I watch a lot of car and motor racing things on youtube, and since people who do this all think Jeremy Clarkson is god I get a bunch of his and Top Gear's post-2010 shite output in my recommendations. I think I posted about it on here at the time, but here's a video from his TV show where he does a comedy routine about wanking in hotel rooms:

Genuinely nauseating.

What an unbelievably dated clip that is.  I remember his chat show being on but never watched it.  Feel old man.

ANyway, this came up in my YouTube recommendations, a fly on the wall documentary about alcoholics in a hostel in 2002.  I remember watching it at the time and just being agog, a different, crazy world.  Rather a lot of Scots there as well.

What I meant was the style of the show is extremely similar to Top Gear. Clarkson takes on a task that he believes will be incredibly simple, he acts smug about how brilliant he's going to be at it, he buys things that have MORE POWER to the point of ridiculous, then reality kicks in and things start to fail, "hilarious mistakes" (such as him getting the tram lines wrong) are quite clearly written in so that they can get the "what an idiot Clarkson is" shot to wrap it all up. That's the formula for just about any Top Gear/Grand Tour episodes and the Farm has carried on the same formula. She's right in that respect. Him standing up for things he has previously stood against doesn't really make it different for me, it just displays how ignorant Clarkson is until things actually affect him. Having said all that, I do enjoy the show.

I wouldn't like to read your critique of a show you didn't like.

Having never watched Top Gear I've no idea if the style is similar. Anyway, I enjoyed it.

James May should stick to taking apart old toys and machines and putting them back together again. Keep him locked up in a shed and he's brilliant.

The show where they built the Scalextric track round the original Brooklands circuit was brilliant

I liked the one where he bought a vintage model railway engine at auction. It was in the original box, in mint condition, but when he paid for it he put the model in his pocket and handed the box back to the auction people to throw away. The looks on the faces of the other collectors were priceless.

Just went to make a coffee the usual way and just got an overwhelming thought that I was doing it all wrong and was totally confused for a couple of seconds. What the f**k is that all about?

If it's a once off it's probably just a memory lapse. In all seriousness, if it becomes more frequent I'd be seeing a doctor.

Some steamers protesting against something tried to force their way into Edinburgh Castle claiming they were taking it back under "Article 61 of Magna Carta".

The 1215 document of Magna Carta as agreed by the English barons and the English King John did not apply to the independent mediaeval Kingdom of Scotland.

Ignorant cnuts.

I must have set up email accounts in Outlook hundreds, if not thousands of times, but I've only just noticed that Microsoft helpfully gives an example of what to put in the "Your Name" field, just in case you're struggling.

And Article  Chapter 61 was deleted in subsequent versions, it only existed for a year. All very fine if you were an English baron back in 1215 though.

Was this not the article that some of facebook's finest legal minds used to convince a hairdresser to ignore lockdown rules and stay open? She ended up fined thousands.

People will believe any old shite.

Yeah.  It was something to do with having the right to choose which laws you followed.  Nutjobs have been quoting it a lot recently.  Trying to use a non-existent English law in Scotland is next level kinds of stupid though.

Agreed.

If you do ever meet a "freeman of the land" remember that they don't consent to laws that would prevent you from kicking a citizen in the nuts.

It was like the walking into a room and forgetting why you went in type moments. I'm not that worried but I'll definitely take your advice if it becomes a frequent thing. Cheers!
