There’s prob more but it doesn’t need that much detail. There's still something very odd about that Clarke ePos business. They still don't have a functional website and their Facebook page is such a weird mix of stuff. They've been reposting about a garage wanting a new mechanic, covid passports, their huge amount of sponsorship deals, and a new push into commercial water contracts. There isn't much news, though, about any successes they're having in selling ePos systems. Strikes me as a baffling approach to building a business. But if we've been paid, the only risk is reputational I suppose.

SouthStandBairn
I'd guess the ease of setting up PayPal and passing security on to them was the easiest way to do it quickly and secure.I was involved in running the 50/50 from the beginning through to the end of last season. Yes PayPal was a more expensive provider than some other options but with that you are paying for PayPal’s reputation and ease of use which was clearly demonstrated in the over £100k it raised. There are a lot of things we can criticise at the club but is payment provider for the 50/50 really the most pressing issue? A bigger issue is how we are going to make ends meet now? Sammy might fill some of Alex’s income but that will take time to develop those relationships however you are still left without the majority of your commercial income that was generated by KK. Yes I enjoyed working with him, but whatever your opinion is that it is a lot of sales to replace at a time when we seem to be spending money left, right and centre off the field.

Is PayPal not just a lazy option really. Lots of other reliable online payment providers that charge much smaller fees and would've saved us a considerable sum .

If it is, which will be good for the away day aspect, it won’t be great from a football perspective. We won’t have trained for 10 days as a group & then need to face Hartley’s mob.
Bigbrbairn
Think a 3-0 loss on the cards today. Wonder what odds the bookies are giving on correct score

I won't be renewing my season ticket until Paypal is dumped and a cheaper service provider for the 50/50s found. In saying that, if Clarke ePos are into dodgy money, then St Mirren and Partick will also be tarred with the same brush. Have to agree though, t's really weird that they seem to have their finger in a load of football pies, splashing the cash and no real business visibility !

I think it will depend on how Aberdeen are looking on the striker front, I haven't heard anyone linked with us apart from Ruth and the longer that drags on the less likely it will happen. Which looking at his record might not be a bad thing.

I think the point is that the club would have a much more substantial wedge of much needed cash if we hadn't used PayPal. In addition, I hope we are following Paypal guidelines and have approval for the 50/50 ( we must have, surely ??) as :- PayPal prohibits the following activities, even where the specific activity is lawful and/or is not legally defined as gambling, unless the transactions are associated with an approved merchant. Lottery tickets –Include the purchase or sale of any opportunity to participate in a raffle, drawing, sweepstake, pool, or any other form of game or contest involving the distribution of prizes or monetary compensation. -

I'm convinced one of them will be a striker. Doubt either will be permanent signings.

I think you have quoted the wrong person, the part of my post you have quoted is basically repeated in your first paragraph. The part of my post you cut out was my only criticism of the IT area within the club. As for Keiran, my previous posts said overall he made money for the club and did a good job. As for where the money is gonna come for, you could have a magic wand or the best commercial director ever and it would be a struggle to generate cash mid covid times. We have over 2000 fans splashing cash for season tickets is something clubs in our league the league above could only dream about for a start
Guest
Just off topic but a work colleague relayed to me a wee story about how the old PA system at Brockville once belonged to Motörhead and was donated to the club by one of the roadies who was a big Falkirk fan. Said his name was Ian apparently but couldn’t remember his surname. First time I’ve heard of it but good wee bit of trivia. One of the many reasons to love Brockville.

Well, for every £25k the club raked in as their profit from the exercise, I am sure that PayPal were perfectly happy with the £10k+ that they got for processing the payments. Four times as much as other reputable small transaction specialists. I suppose £10k is neither here nor there to a L1 side or the 50-50 winners.

I can’t recall if our PA was decent or awful or even if it was changed out at some point in the 1980s? Clearly it could never perform as their sound system for gigs. Must have had some sort of function, but can’t think what….if it’s PA stuff like Tannoy speakers.
