Big Rangers Administration/Liquidation Thread - All chat here!

regarding the SNP involvement in the rangers c.ase i sent Alex Salmond the following email, for all the good it will do but made me feel better rolleyes.gif

Dear Alex, The story in the Daily Record surrounding the meeting of ministers and HMRC about the Rangers situation, if true, shows a grave misjudgement on this issue in my humble opinion. Your support of a club failing to meet its tax bill saddens me. Maybe all businesses should not bother to pay taxes.

The demise of Rangers if allowed to happen would surely be a huge first step in lancing the cancer which is sectarianism in Scotland today. I cannot see what our party will gain by supporting the club as a great number of its supporters are politically unionist. Furthermore, you will lose voters throughout Scotland myself included with this stance. I refer you to the pie and bovril website forum thread rangers now in administration page 403-404. This gives a fair reflection of public feeling regards this situation and the loathing of this sectarian institution. For balance have a look at the rangersmedia site. Pick any forum. If it is the posters on that site that you choose to pander to then good luck and I and thousands like me will bid you and our party adieu.

could you email this onto alex,he could use it as his net political broadcast

I'd have thought it also quite worrying if Ticketus are involved. They'll have a huge, snarling dog in the fight to the tune of £20m ish, and as an investment firm, are they going to be interested in the normal machinations of a football club? SIgnings, form of the team etc? They'll want a profit on their investment, nowt more. If I were a Rangers fan I'd be quite perturbed at the thought of a group like that having a big say in things.

Ticketus exists solely to give a good (or even a very good) return to people who are high tax payers and high net worth (= loads of dosh in their back pockets). So Ticketus have only one gaol in life, to maximize the return on their money.

TAX BENEFITS

Provided underlying investments are held for at least three years, you're entitled to four separate tax advantages:

  • 30% income tax relief (on investments up to £500,000 per tax year)
  • Capital Gains Tax deferral
  • 100% inheritance tax relief (provided funds remain invested at the time of death)
  • Up to 50% loss relief on any holding that falls in value
  • Tax free growth

So when they say they want to see a CVA from today's press release "The members of the Consortium remain united in their belief that a collaborative approach is essential in securing the Club's future through a successful and swift CVA process. The Consortium strongly believes that a CVA, not liquidation, is the best way to protect the Club's value and legacy and consequently that is the approach presented in our offer." they would wouldn't they. It is also the best way to protect the recovery of the money they handed over.

Regarding the SPL and SFA looking at the bidders, what will they make of Paul Murray's involvement as a director when the Rangers board were being naughty boys? Was he asleep, not interested, pretending it wasn't happening, wishing it would all go away, or right in it up to his elbows? Will they look behind the scenes and find Dave King as a shadow director in the consortium company?

And as for the running costs for Rangers being £10million, that is hardly a showstopper given the support and size of stadium and sponsorship opportunities. Two problems are that the new owners have ambitions beyond the size of their pockets, as they have been doing for a dozen years or so. The other problem is having these supporters groups represented on the board. Given the abilities they have shown during the administration I doubt if they could run a stall at the Barras profitably, never mind a serious business. So thanks guys for the thought, but don't ring us we will ring you.

Rangers fans planning to protest against liquidation on Saturday ...

"Show The Red Card To Liquidation!

Anti-Liquidation Demo On Saturday!

On Saturday versus St Mirren 50,000 Bears will show that Rangers will not die by giving a red card to the threat of liquidation.

At kick off and in the 18th and 72nd minutes - 1872! - raise your red card and voice your determination not to support anyone who is trying to drag the club down into liquidation.

On Monday evening a meeting took place in Glasgow with host of fan groups to discuss the Bears fight-back against those who seek to do the club down.

Rangers Football Club have survived the good and the bad for 140 years , the vast majority being very successful for a club now known to be the most successful club in world football. Its more than just a club, it’s a way of life for far too many people the world over to simply give it up to faceless money men with no love nor interest in this famous fitbaw club.

It was agreed unanimously that we The Rangers support would fight tooth and nail against anyone or group who seek to liquidate the Gers.

The message is simple, sink us and we will sink you !

You won’t simply reform a newco and everything’s bright and rosy, not a chance in hell. The Rangers fan base united won’t allow it, no fans, no players, no sponsor. NOTHING

This Saturday we have arranged to allow every fan in Ibrox to show the administrators and any would-be liquidators the “red card”. 50,000 red cards will form part of display in protest at the enemy intent on finishing off The Rangers as we know it. Message banners and red cards will make our feelings clear as day, you are not welcome.

The display is NOT in favour of any individual bid/bidders, we simply welcome anyone with Rangers best interest at heart.

Feel free to bring your own message banners, we all know the rules !

The display will be set up on Thursday and Friday night , ALL Rangers fans are welcome to help set it up. To arrange help please email sie1872@googlemail.com

It’s our club, it was our fathers club and it will be the club of our children!

The Rangers FC forever!

It’s all about The Rangers!"
