forehead7
Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010) I truly have no idea how to rate this, maybe it will come to me as I type this! The first twenty minutes is just CGI and gunfire, utter shite, I'm not impressed thus far. Then we get a bit of a plot, quite interesting thanks for that Paul! Now we go into Crystal Skull mode of sticking in completely random unexplained nonsense... what the f**k was that big monster with the big hammer... when did Too Human kick in, and why did Alice not just do what she did in the first place?!?!? I thought this was the last one, but it seemed set up for a fifth film... Let it go Anderson, you've had your run now let it go and go back to producing shite! I can't give this any more than a 6/10 despite enjoying it, for that ridiculous mince at the beginning... That the dude? He's the executioner, a mini boss from Resident Evil 4.
saints1884
Precious. You just knew that after she handed the mother her baby that the mother was going to do something bad. 9/10 Edited September 18, 2010 by saints1884
SaltyTON
That the dude? He's the executioner, a mini boss from Resident Evil 4. Aye that's him, but there was absolutely no explanation as to why this guy was attacking them, and how he got into the prison without the zombies attacking him...
forehead7
I can't say about it in Afterlife but in Resident Evil 4 he's is a majini. Majini are the new zombies, infected with plagas.

See that would add up, but there was no mention of new zombies or anything like that, he just showed up and started banging on the gates, then attacking them... but he just killed the Chinese guy with the hammer/axe, and didn't munch on him or anything...

As I said, I can't comment on the movie since I've not seen it, but seeing what you've written is disappointing.
Smurph
Scott Pilgrim vs The World 2010 Oh. Sweet. Jesus. Absolutely fantastic. I honestly would love to go see it again, as I'm sure there's some levels of geekiness I had missed. I'm now considering buying one of the month long unlimited cinema cards. The Universal part at the beginning was worth the £5.20 (thanks Young Scot Card) I had paid to get in. If there was one problem with the film, it was that the fighting parts got a little tedious after a while with the same stuff going on, but that's a really small flaw. Ugh. 9.9/10
Monster
The Taking Of Pelham 123 This is the remake featuring Denzel Washington. A touch fractured and unintelligable in parts but as a Hollywood production it wasn't the absolute worst ever. 5/10
forehead7
I'm now considering buying one of the month long unlimited cinema cards. Can you buy month ones? I thought it was a mandatory 12 month period.
Smurph
Can you buy month ones? I thought it was a mandatory 12 month period. My mate said for Cineworld you can get a month one for £13.50 (one movie costs £7.50) though I don't know if he was mistaken. Perhaps you have to pay £13.50 for a minimum of a year. I don't know.

They are like season tickets, and must be paid in advance for the whole year.
Gaz
They are like season tickets, and must be paid in advance for the whole year. That's new then, as I pay it monthly. A mate of mine got his just a couple of months ago and he pays it monthly too.

Must be old Gaz, as it was that way when I asked a few years ago. Paying it monthly leaves it far too open to abuse, people could just cancel the direct debit.

I've never heard of anyone being asked to pay in advance for a whole year. You sign a minimum twelve-month contract but I've never heard of it being paid any other way apart from monthly. Smurph
It seems you can do both. Click. I might need to wait until I get a job then if it's on a 12-month contract opposed to just paying it monthly with the option to quit whenever.
SaltyTON
Pandorum (2009) I jumped, I'm ashamed... first jump ever at a horror film and it was a film with Anderson's name on it. Was watchable, and was what Event Horizon should have been. 6/10 ------------------ Hell Penitentiary (1984) I thought maybe it would be a decent previous attempt at Hellborn, but without Tiny Lister... NO NO NO This, despite being in a box set of 20 HORROR films, just turned out to be a shit Italian soft porn version of the TV series Bad Girls, 'starring' some of the ugliest people not born in Dalgety Bay. After about an hour, a bit of plot turned up, which whilst reasonably well thought out turned out to lead to nowhere of interest. I would say it was the worst film I had seen, but that would be more as I was expecting a horror. It would still be down there in the bottom 10. 1/10 - just scraping above that film about some tedious c***s going to Guantanamo Bay and, well, Hellborn.
The Nightfly
Anyone seen "Men Who Stare At Goats" ? Great intro track (Supergrass, Alright), then followed, it must be said, by rather a tongue in cheek look at alternative military combat methods ! 7/10.
knee jerk reaction
watched "the other guys" picked purely on the basis of being the next film to start after we got to the cinema. wasn't expecting to much from it. possibly not the film to see if you're looking for any type of plot but as a spoof cop/buddy movie it wasn't bad with some genuinely laugh out loud moments and plenty of smaller laughs . enjoyable overall and better than i expected so 7/10
Gall09
Man on Fire - 8/10 I may have given this an extra mark or so just because i love Denzel but i don't really care. Cracking film about an assassin turned bodyguard who goes to extreme lengths to get the people he believes are responsible for the death of his last client, a nine year old girl. Good support from Christopher Walken and Radha Mitchell too. Edited September 20, 2010 by Gall09
big_bairn_1876
This post makes me sad. RE4 if you expected anything unpredictable with Anderson, you're clearly had no idea what you were getting into! Ghost Town is truly shit though, it was passable only in the fact it was so bland and harmless that you couldn't care enough either way to give it a positive/negative mark. Yeah i now retract my opinion of Ghost Town, I still ont thik its bad, but maybe saying it was the best film iv seen in a while was over the top, it is very bland, i rewatched it last night, some of it is very slow. stil not that bad tho.
