A reworking of David Copperfield relocated to the Appalachian Virginia, it deals with addiction, poverty, and struggles of Demon, his family and community. I tried to read this years ago but gave up in the first chapter due to the amount of made-up words. I have managed to get to chapter 2 this time though. I saw it at the showcase cinema coatbridge when it was re-released / unbanned 20 odd years ago. Saturday night main screen absolutely rammed full , at least half the audience had left within the first 30 minutes! I thought it was excellent. I remember watching Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas at a cinema in Sweden. Half an hour in and only 5 folk were left. Everyone else walked out.
