Boredom.

Fair enough.

My less than impressive list in a Rover 216 (Racing Green, cylinder head went on route to see REM), VW Golf Mk IV (written off in a head collision with a Lithunian professor, his fault not mine), VW Golf Mk V (Friday afternoon model in which everything went tits up including the horn, sold for scrap for £250), Fiat Punto (dads motor after he had a stroke and couldn't drive, passed it on to my nephew who still has it), Renault Kadjar (current but getting punted later this year).

In reality a lot of my quick changes were because they were company cars and promotion changed the car, or since I had a good relationship with our transport guys I got a quicker than scheduled change. All of my own cars, other than the first 4, I've owned for at least 2 1/2 years.

Metro was a wonky runaround after passing test, leaky petrol tank and driver window wouldn't wind up. Micra I hated and changed quick, wrote the Rover off and the Punto was changed quick because I was given a company car. That's why I've had so many.

My old man taught me to drive in his Metro.  Superb wee car for hammering about the back roads.

First thing I did after getting it was go to a McDonald's drive through. Always wanted to do that. Got the grub and then discovered the window wouldn't go back up.

It was a heap of absolute junk but had character and as a first car I remember it fondly.

I've not had that many

1987 VW Polo : Great wee car, apart from a leak that I could never find where it came from that filled up the rear drivers side passenger footwell.  When you braked hard enough, your feet got wet.

1993 VW Golf: Only had a 4 speed gearbox, so was very noisy on the motor way.  No power steering meant it was a b*****d to maneuver at low speeds.

2006 Vauxhall Astra Coupe: Was (and still is, imo) a fantastic looking car.  Good fun to throw about in the corners as well.

2014 Renault Clio: Nippy wee car with a fairly grunty diesel engine.  Never gave me any grief in the 4 years I had it despite it being a Renault

2018 Lexus RXL: Scares the absolute shite out of BMW and Audi drivers when you press the loud pedal.

I love it.  It's very comfortable inside, the 3rd row of seats in the back aren't going to be any good for fully grown people, but we've used them a few times now for ferrying the kids about and there's more than enough room for them in there, and they lie flat when you don't need them making the boot gigantic.

As I said, for a car of it's size it's quick, and the V6 makes a really lovely noise when you ask it to get a shift on.  The "Hybrid" part is a bit of a con tbh, i've not really managed to get it above 30mpg even on a long motorway journey.

I've never known anyone to have a French car and then buy another never mind have owned so many.

Eta: Hold on, I've just realised I'm talking absolute horseshit. I've owned a Citroen, a Renault and a Peugeot which is probably where my subconscious dislike for French cars stems from.

Anyways, popped in to say I watched the Typhoon display out on practice this afternoon. It's early so the clearance height was still high but it was worth pausing for 10 minutes to watch. Be good in a month or so when he's cleared down proper low ;)
