Oh, and the wife got a letter today saying she was getting a £500 bonus paid in her next salary.

Shame on you for opening it. Can't believe she would actually tell you about it.

Yeah I buy a packet of the milk ones every so often at Coles. I'll check my local IGA closer next time.

Do you still Jack the Slasher food stores/warehouses?

They were magic, no bags, just cardboard boxes for taking your stuff home.

eta - it was a Queensland thing, fucking sure I was in one at NSW.

Sounds brilliant, mate.

Gets better, the boxes were all stacked in a corner after your purchase.  You would walk over and find the box/boxes suitable for your food supply, then pack up.

Sounds like shops like Templetons and Fine Fare back in the day.  In our local supermarket they still have staff packing shopping and many folk choose boxes rather than bags - mainly because the bags are crap and the arse falls out of them too easily. I still smile when I remember my old man getting off the bus and discovering the bottom had fallen out of a carrier bag (Tesco) and our Sunday roast was now somebody else's Sunday roast.

Sounds a lot like Kwik Save/Kwik Shite.

Used to be a Jack the Slasher in Elgin many years ago.

Not a shop, just an old alky who was always getting lifted for pishing in the high street.
