Would maybe be a good career move for Barron, Champions League football etc - but "giants" is perhaps taking it a bit far, think their average attendance is about the same as Aberdeen. So... European giants then?

KRC Genk are the outcome of a late 80s merger of those great names Waterschei and Winterslag. One of half of them is very well known for a comeback hammering of PSG in the 83 ECWC QFs, before being crucified by some guy called Bell in the next round.
HarleyQuinn
I reckon 500k plus add on is the best we'll get for Barron. He's barely played this season and he's yet to replicate his form from last season. There's definitely a good player there however his head appears to be turned by all the interest from last summer. A fair few players could potentially be leaving this coming summer.
kingjoey
I realise that with the agreement of the player and the two clubs involved, a player can agree to sign for another club outwith the transfer window. But my understanding is that no contract can actually be signed until the window opens. So no idea how Ross McCrorie can sign for any club until whatever date the window reopens, 1st June? You're usually pretty much up on this sort of thing @craigkillie.
craigkillie
As far as I'm aware they can sign a post-dated contract any time they want with the agreement of the relevant parties. It's just his football registration that can't be transferred until that date.

coprolite
Is Robson going to be looking at squad building for next season now or will we see how the next few games go? No need to jump the gun other than planning is there? doubt he’d be tempted to go for one of the other three prem jobs that are currently filled “until summer” because I reckon he’ll back himself to get ours.

Probably my main worry is him having to source players. You get plenty managers who get loads out of other folks signings but massively fail when it's them making the decisions.

Especially as there is going to be a big overhaul given how many loan players we have this season.
HarleyQuinn
I wasn't alive to experience the 80s and didn't start following Aberdeen until 1999. Whenever I watch footage of older Aberdeen sides (the 80s/early 90s) I can't help but feel the players back then look significantly more technical than todays.

I have in my head, on the basis of very little fact, that Goodwin was responsible for all signings from England and the recruitment team for all the good ones. Probably unfair.
AngusTheBull
I’d imagine the process goes along the lines of: 1. The manager states he wants a certain type of player (e.g. attacking full back) 2. The recruitment team identify and present him with 3/4 players that fit the brief 3. The manager decides which of the options to approach or sign, if at all Stewart was 100% a Goodwin signing that he’d probably identified or been in contact with previously while Richardson was apparently identified by the recruitment team (albeit as one for the future rather than this season). You’d imagine all of the signings from abroad were identified by the recruitment team though. I’m more reassured by the fact we have a recruitment team in place now and it wouldn’t just be Robson having to find everybody himself like Glass supposedly had to.
