Done well to speak for 15 minutes and say nothing at all.

sexy the simpsons GIF

As someone who doesn’t cry about their lack of statements I do agree with you.

But given the bedwetting about a lot of this I get why they went with a more intimate interview instead of a statement.

Was mostly a big nothing though, a 2 paragraph statement could’ve provided the same level of relevant information.

TBF to the maniacs, I see their point.

Both are very active on social media when it's going well.

It wouldn't bother me if they never post but can't really have it both ways.

Burrows speaks about exactly this point in the interview saying he's having to stop posting on social media

Yeah, he waffled a heap of shite.

Will be 'engaging' non-stop if we were to go on a winning streak though. No laughing at the back, please.

I see there's still chatter that Michael O'Neil is the man that's "very close" ; however, I've heard that he wasn't interested...

Folk are saying we are at the "hope he takes it" stage.

I’ve witnessed some amount of crap over many years supporting the Dons but I think panicking into a quick fix manager to placate the media and a few bloggers would be right up there with the worst. Warnock was a good example of being just as well leaving the coaching staff in charge until someone decent is landed.

I’m genuinely interested to know what communication people want.

When things are going bad, no one really wants to hear “we weren’t at our best, stick with us, the fans were amazing” etc.

For the manager search, there’s nothing much more to be said until a manager is appointed. While the process is ongoing, I don’t really see what is to be gained from saying anything publicly about it.

The openness on things like stadiums developments, ticketing, kits and merchandise etc from AB and DC was welcomed imo and it’s a shame that this has stopped. I suppose it was inevitable when you see all the roasters tagging them in posts constantly.

I’d rather they just provided substantive information. I’m more miserable than most, so there’s a happy medium. But I always thought cormack talked too much about what he was going to do and what he wanted. That might sound wise after the fact, but fairly certain I’ll be on record on here saying it at the time.

The case in point was there document about style of play etc, a garbage piece of work with absolutely nothing substantive in terms of delivery. Just a fantasy wish list of things fans like to hear.

Hoping it’s not him. Don’t see what he’ll bring for the money needed to get him out of NI and his subsequent paycheck.
If he really wanted to come a deal would surely have been done by now…

That’s fair enough, in the case of Cormack especially.

I don't really understand the fervent opposition to O'Neill, in all honesty. I suppose I can kind of understand wanting a more exciting or inspiring name, but I never see anybody really nail down what they mean by that, other than perhaps somebody foreign who hasn't worked in Scotland before.

I can understand why Burrows is saying that we are an attractive proposition in his interview, but at the same time, we are still relegation-threatened, have had three (discounting Warnock) unsuccessful managers in a row, we need major squad surgery in the summer along with likely losing our best player, and carry the potential for a disruptive restructure. So I think there has to be a bit of realism about the quality of candidate that will be putting themselves forward, especially when you see from McInnes that a good body of work up here maybe doesn't count for too much elsewhere.

We are currently a high-risk job, but without too much of a high reward for the manager who does take it, even if he gets us into Europe and maybe wins us a trophy.

Let's be honest, we're in a similar situation to where we were when McInnes took over and that's the type of appointment we will make.

We're past the point where we are an attractive proposition for any manager who's on the way up. The time to appointment an 'exciting' type was when Glass or Goodwin were being replaced.

We're needing someone to come in and do what Derek did in the first couple of years but not be so focused on signing English lower league players.

Obviously social media wasn't as ubiquitous when we appointed McInnes, but I do wonder what the reaction would have been to rumours that we were about to appoint a guy who had been sacked by Bristol City having succumbed to a club record run of consecutive defeats, and didn't exactly have a reputation for playing 'exciting football' in Scotland. Then again, maybe our expectations were slightly lower over a decade ago now.
