topcat(The most tip top)
In the early days of Edinburgh football there were teams called the 3rd Edinburgh Rifle Volunteers and Leith Primrose which means that if Hearts and Hibs hadn't emerged as the predominant teams in Edinburgh and Leith the capital might now be hosting the Guns 'n' Roses Derby. If Hibs hadn't come back after shutting down in 1891 then it would be the Hearts and Flowers Derby Edited March 13, 2023 by topcat(The most tip top)

lennyzer0
In terms of league clubs only, it's Heart of Midlothian, Hamilton Academical and Queen of the South, of course (with Bonnyrigg Rose coming in fourth). Anything else is madness.

topcat(The most tip top)
The worst ones are ones like Aberdeen FC which is quite the least imaginative name for a football club from Aberdeen It’s all the more tragic because the city’s previous representatives were wonderfully named, but legendarily incompetent “Bon Accord” and “Orion”

If the dance hall had been named after another Scott novel, Ivanhoe, would you now be a fan of 'hoes?!

As far as Scott Titles go the best ones are “ Castle Dangerous”, “Phantasmagoria” and “Bizarro” your own club should consider these next time it’s changing its name

Over here in the East, Musselburgh Athletic were known as Musselburgh Bruntonians (and Musselburgh Fern) after the Brunton wire works in the town. There’s also the Brunton Hall which was paid for by John Brunton jr.
