Do you agree with him that we can be the only league in the world to play our competitive matches with no referees?

Is that what you've taken from his comments,  the smiley to do that justice hasn't been invented yet.

But, but, Steven Gerrard says that retrospective punishment doesn’t happen anywhere else. “It’s not right. It doesn’t happen anywhere else.”

He does say that we should have no referees and do the refereeing in the days following matches. Don’t think that happens in a single competitive league anywhere in the world.

There's no point in responding to bad faith arguments like this.

He didn’t say that? Really?

Did Steven Gerrard ask why don't we just have no referees officiating matches? Yes

Am I capable enough to realise that it was a rhetorical and hyperbolic question to emphasise his point? Also yes.

Why did he not just accept the punishment for an awful foul, and move on?

Possibly because it was retrospectively punished when the SFA's own rules state it shouldn't have been possible to do so?

His main concerns about the situation weren't about Roofe being banned (he actually said he respects their decision to ban him), he was more making the point that the way incidents are being cited is inconsistent, which I agree with.

Just a few years ago he was demanding decisions could be retrospectively changed (after the Candeias red v St Mirren), so this all feels a bit "playing to the gallery" tbh.

As with everything OF related though, it's been lapped up by fans and media, and become a conspiracy theory.

Given the nature of the foul, it is abundantly clear that the referee did not see the incident clearly, and therefore your first sentence is incorrect.
