That is Scottish Cup semi-final weekend and the final is only 4 weeks later this year.

They could well end up playing it then but it'll mean other league fixtures being moved after split or the semi-final(s) being played midweek.

I know @craigkillie thinks they might go for midweek after round 33 games, presumably the Monday night.

BT Sport should have been told to GTF and the game should have been played in the midweek before Xmas.

If Rangers and St Johnstone are knocked out in the quarter finals then the semi final weekend becomes free for them both.

Using a bigoted word to describe the morons in our support singing bigoted shite, good old PnB.

You do realise that the word h*n is as bigoted a word as “sh**psh*gg*rs” being used to describe Aberdeen fans, H*V’s to describe Hibs fans, “green and greys” to describe Celtic fans, “f*rm*rs” to describe St Johnstone fans, etc. It is simply a word that fans of other clubs use to have a go at someone else’s team. But I know that Rangers fans love to be offended, so don’t expect you ever to agree.

But if Rangers and Celtic both progress in Europe they will have Europa League games on the Thursday so can't play the Saturday. Police Scotland won't let Rangers play at Ibrox and Celtic at Hampden on the Sunday...

The season the currants reached the UEFA Cup final, we ended up playing them at Love St on Monday 19th of May (the game was postponed from 11th of November). Obviously this was well after the league split and, you'll not be surprised to read, we had finished in different halves of the league after 33 games.

Were you still in the running for the top half at the split?

Theres no way they can have the game after the split if we're still in contention for the top half after 32 games.

Ok, wasn’t thinking about that. Then it would have to be the Monday night, the day after the second semi final, if they both lose in the quarters.

I think that's what they might do as they'll need to fix a date rather than just sit there hoping things work themselves out. Mind you, this is the SPFL.

Monday 6 April or Monday 13 April.

No, St Mirren were already confirmed as bottom 6 when that was scheduled. Obviously if Saints are still in the running for the top 6 then they can't delay this until after the league has actually split, however they could play it on the midweek (or the following weekend) after everyone else has played Game 33. There's already TV games on that weekend so it's not like everyone plays simultaneously anyway.

Chances are they'll wait another couple of weeks and hope that either a) Rangers get knocked out of the Europa in the next round, b) Both Saints and Rangers fail to make the Scottish Cup semi or c) Saints are knocked out of the running for the top 6 (or are guaranteed top 6). In case a), they can play it in the midweek before the cup semi, in case b) they can play it on the Scottish Cup semi-final weekend (even on the Monday) and in case c) they can play it at any point after the split.

It's only if none of a), b) or c) happen that there's a real issue.

I think we'll be out the running for the top half before the split, but it's incredible the authorities can allow it to reach this stage.

I'm not sure what else they can do - there hasn't been a single midweek available since this game was postponed back in November. The only normally "free" midweek, just before Christmas, was unusable because Hibs v Rangers was moved to the Friday night for TV and Rangers had already played the previous Sunday.

There's not a great deal of wiggle room in the fixture list, so this is always going to be a possibility if a team does well in both cup competitions and in Europe. It could have been even worse if they'd had Scottish Cup replays or any postponements (aside from the Livi one which was wisely rescheduled for the next day).

Scrap the winter break, is what they could do.

Having a situation where you cant play a postponed game for 6/7 months is embarrassing for a top flight competition. Theyll likely escape unscathed from it, but they cant have situations like this every season.

The Winter Break has to go or be changed.

Not playing on New Years Day/2nd was ridiculous. This year the Winter Break skipped over potentially 5 matchdays. And now every midweek in the rest of January and February is rammed.

If it is going to be kept it needs to cover only a single Weekend. It isn't like the players actually get a rest either. They get shoved into a warm weather training camp which is probably overall more physically taxing than normal training.

Can’t wait for the Sevco to finish the season 10 points behind Celtic and for the revised history of “fixture pileup” be used by the SS to deflect away from their failure.

Regarding football matters my theory is that the board at Ibrox would rather European runs like this one over winning the Premiership title purely due to the financial benefits. What do the SS on here think?

"The authorities" didn't decide to have a winter break, the clubs did. It's up to them to scrap it too.
