When the Fife Circle branch line to Leven is completed, the walk to Bayview will be less than half a mile.

If they make the ground better (add a terrace on the opposite side from the stand etc then that could become a good wee away trip.

Somerset Park is pretty close to Newton-on-Ayr station (must be less than a half mile), although there is a lack of decent pubs around the area.

Ayr station is further away but can't be much over a mile as the crow flies. Far more pubs between there and the ground.

Our ground must be one of the few in the UK to being so close (circa 1mile) to

- a main line railway station

- a major motorway

- an international airport

Perfect for all that European football you are soon to be playing...... b*****ds.

We unfortunately don’t have a UEFA licence.
Worry about that IF we make top 6. Lots of games to go and we have a habit of making an arse of things.

Spurs have an underground station.

You could argue that most teams in London are close to an underground/overground station.

I read recently in the link below that there were some “new discussions” taking place about an airport transport spur towards our international airport.

That’s got to be up there.   If Queens got a season or two in the Premiership the novelty of it would have great away supports there and the town centre would make millions!!

I think of Tynecastle as being a decent walk in terms of pubs and food places, never feels that far.

You’d be correct if only trains ran on a Saturday ? Sadly i think of the past

Yes and no, although Arsenal famously do after Herbert Chapman lobbied for Gillespie Road Station to be renamed.

Although since moving to the Emirates Holloway Road or Drayton Park might actually be closer than Arsenal Station (depending on what bit of the ground you've got tickets for)

Think neither are open on match days due to potential overcrowding. The nearest ones open are Arsenal, Highbury and Islingston and Finsbury Park.

According to arsenal.com it's sort of not quite closed but not fully open either.

"Holloway Road station will be exit-only before the match and closed for up to 2 hours after the match. Pre-match eastbound trains are non-stopping."

At the moment the Murrayfield tram stop is within 500m of Tynecastle as the crow flies but you have to go a long way round to get there

Even if you know the route through the supermarket car park it's scarcely better than Haymarket

When they finally redevelop the old school behind the Roseburn end it would be surprising if they don't implement a direct pedestrian route to the tram at Murrayfield alongside the West approach road which would also serve to connect Tynecastle to the tram

There's already plans underway to add pedestrian and cycle access as far as Russell Road

Dingwall Station to whatever Victoria Park is called now is a short hop. Unfortunately, trains south from Dingwall are appallingly timed - think there's two hours wait or something.

Not a drinker but there certainly used to be a bar on the northbound platform.

The Mallard, 4 minute walk to the ground.

We tried that once in ignorance. Left the car at Ingliston and got the tram in thinking it would be a short walk.  Walked in circles round the streets afterwards trying to find the fucker.

No they don't. White Hart Lane Station is overground and therefore useless.

Nearest Undergound is 7 Sisters which is a half hour walk through an absolute tip then a half hour queue to get into said Station

It's usually other Saints fans who disparage ZM's strange assertions.

Good to see it corroborated by a fan of another team.

Not especially. But if you're willing to attempt a death-defying leap from the train window as it goes past, you could cut the walking time to under 200 feet. If you're still able to walk, that is.

Not if you use the emergency brake, and then avoid the blame.

Station Measurement Proposal:

A) The distance shall be measured via Google maps from the applicable rail station to the stadium. This shall be via any reasonable walking route that doesn’t require climbing over obstacles, thus adjustment of the Google Maps calculated route is acceptable, other than to qualify an indirect route of over 1 mile by selectively meandering for licensed establishments. Measurements shall be recorded to the nearest 1/100th of a mile.

B) For each licenced establishment directly along the route, 1/10th of a mile shall be subtracted.

C) For each eating establishment with a licence directly along the route, 1/20th of a mile shall be subtracted.

D) For each off-licence location directly along the route, 1/5th of a mile shall be subtracted. For the purposes of this calculation only, an off-licence location visible, and reachable as above, from the route shall be counted as directly along the route, but the distance to and from the establishment shall be added to the route distance.

E) Light rail/tram stations and bus stops are not an acceptable substitute for conventional rail unless a direct connection is utilized from the nearest railway station, via this system, for matches.

F) Stadiums with stations more than 2 miles from them can just f**k right off.

Example: Stark’s Park is 0.9 miles from the Kirkcaldy Rail Station. Along the way is the Beveridge Park Hotel (licenced with a bar and eating) and just off the route, but visible, is a Tesco Express. The detour to the Tesco Express adds 0.05 miles. Thus the calculation is 0.9 - 0.05 + 0.05 - 0.2 = 0.7 mileage rating.
