Surprised not to see this mentioned after coming across Twitter. Is this Edinburgh City or FC Edinburgh getting their EoS reserve side in through the backdoor?

St Marks is in a public park. A football pitch with a small fence round it. There is zero chance of any substantial facilities going in there.

I'm not really bothered about that. It's more the saga around "Edinburgh City". Since Craigroyston were rumoured to be switching to it late last season and FC Edinburgh's new board talked about the intention to return to Edinburgh City. Is this all one and the same or competing interests?

A club or team labelled Edinburgh City Whites joined the Lothian and Edinburgh Amateur League in Division Two at the start of 2022/23 season. They are still there next season.

Their edited details as at the start of 2022/23, from the league handbook:

EDINBURGH CITY WHITES Secretary: David Burton Address:  Alternative: Wendy Anderson  Ground: Forrester HS 3G Colours: White/Black

They may be a separate club from FC Edinburgh? Anyone know more?

Wendy Anderson was involved with the Edinburgh City Youth teams set up

There was a split last year (the then FC Edinburgh board didn't consult the youth teams regarding the name chance it seems and there was other background stuff).

There is a history of youth teams taking over/being involved with East of Scotland team- Tollcross United became Tynecastle, Leith Athletic merged with Edinburgh Athletic and Hutchi Vale got involved with Lothian Thistle

ETA: there was an age group team (u15?) a few years ago called Edinburgh City Whites (as there were two age group teams- the other was Edinburgh City Reds or something). Maybe the LEAFA team are those players who have progressed through the age rankings

Meantime there was an Edinburgh City Sunday Amateurs team run in part by the Social Club. They have departed and the Social Club are to start a new Sunday Amateurs team

This is almost like Scottish Church history you know. The Free Football Club of Edinburgh City will play the Unified Football Club of Edinburgh City in an ecumenical derby ..

?? Is that correct. It would make Craigroyston into Edinburgh City "B". Stand back!

There's been similar issues with Broomhill/BSC, Rossvale/Caledonian Locos, Caledonian Braves/Edusport and even Syngenta where the "senior" club has broken away from its boys club roots,

Edinburgh City now run Craigroyston.

Not wishing to contradict you but my post did say it was EC Youth who were running Craigie and they'd broken away from FCE

Bridges may be mended in due course though
