NorthBank
According to Salary Sport Baccus was on 2k per week with us. Highest paid player with Mansfield is on 5k per week. Edit to add: and Baccus has repeatedly said he wanted to play in England (as recent as last week) so doubt he would have signed for any other Scottish club. For whatever reason a "friendship" grew between the two clubs after the European game. We had an away kit in red and black, they had an away kit in blue and white. It all seemed to end around the time when they got relegated and their fans burned their stadium down.
zildjian
As much as im gutted to see him go, he had made it clear he wanted English football. I must admit surprised at the league hes going to. Interested to see how it impacts his national squad selection for better or for worse.

Molotov
If that’s the actual kits I’m surprised that the club has not managed to attract a higher profile shirt sponsor to bring in greater revenue for our long awaited European campaign…….. On the subject of sponsorship I’m surprised that we have not seen a stadium sponsorship deal take place. Anyone have an idea how much these types of sponsorship deals bring into the club?
Molotov
Love to see this as a St Mirren shirt and stadium sponsor……. Make it so @Div “Let’s head back to Chick Young and Willie Miller at the Pie and Bovril stadium where last we heard St Mirren were pumping The once Famous Aberdeen 5-0 in the first half”…..

Loved his interview, none of the nonsense about always wanting to play for Mansfield. Just straight out this is a stepping stone to the EPL. https://x.com/Socceroos/status/1793417247014494623
LondonHMFC
Mansfield have decent backers, have done for a good while now. Also signed Lee Gregory who was on the best part of 10k at Sheffield Wednesday. They’ll be aiming for play offs this year. English League One has some big spenders in it this season.

Not usually one for posting on this thread and especially as it's not St Mirren related, but just to add a bit of context to Randoms usual dramatisation. They were moving into a brand new stadium after that game and the old stadium was a vandalised mess. They did rip off and set advertising hoardings etc on fire though. New stadium is a cracker, just a pity the team are about as good as Morton.
Billy Jean King
Good to see SMISA polling members on the plastic pitch vote. Exactly the sort of thing there should be input into by those backing the fan ownership.

What folk need to remember about Baccus is he wasn't starting regularly with us. Therefore, I cannot imagine we made him a very lucrative offer to retain him. Baccus's wage was presumably negotiated and confirmed before he signed his contract, so that was before he played in the World Cup Finals, at Wembley against England, etc. We're a fan owned club and we need to live within our means. Some clubs simply don't do that. I wish Baccus all the success in the world. He's a good lad, who I've chatted to on a couple of occasions. I'm sure he will do well at Mansfield, though like others I am astonished he chose to go there.
buddie06smfc
A committed, fully fit Baccus starts every week. You only had to look at the difference he made coming on against Dundee then finished the season strongly against Hearts & Celtic. Sure he’ll go on to bigger and better things than Mansfield, who should look forward to earning some money off a transfer fee before the end of his contract there.
