Elvis is defensively fine in a positional sense.

He has been very poor at stopping his winger though if I'm being critical. He isn't great in the tackle at all.

I agree, he's doing an OK job standing in, but hope we sign better for next season.

For all Tanser's crosses, I'd like a better return from him too. However he is having a fab season and he is a good standard for us.

Why? A genuine question

Presumably because Robbo would then be in the frame for the Northern Ireland job.

If that did come to pass, i'd hope we could negotiate a deal where he doesnt leave till the end of the season.

Why would SR take the Irish job now?

Europe with us or lots of losses with NI.

That job will come around again, when it surely will be more attractive than it is right now.

He might not be as attractive to them the next time it comes around, that's got to be in his mind.

He might not but the gamble right now is very unattractive.

It is at least as likely as not that his chance(s) will come round again.

We have a good core,no debt, fans who love what he's doing and a management team that is very supportive.  This is why we are progressing.

With European money we may well kick on further but who knows.

He is on a good no. Right now.

Despite O’Neill being kinda shite first time round with Northern Ireland with a similar win ratio to what he has now he still landed a decent sized job with Stoke City after NI.

It’s a high profile job that may well appeal to Robbo.

He has proved his capability with Motherwell and St Mirren to take on clubs with far greater resources.

Steve Clarke did something similar by leaving Kilmarnock after similar progress.

ps: There is no guarantee we will be in Europe. And even if we are it could be over in a blink of an eye.

I think there's more to it for us , if O'Neil get the Aberdeen job . Diarmuid is his assistant with NI , and he might be looking for him to join him up there too , which could see the initial break-up of our management set-up !

So will managing a club in the Scottish Premiership.

International jobs seem pretty ropy to actually get. A good manager seems able to get at least 3 tournament qualifying campaigns so that could be 5-6 years, that might not be true but its kind of how it feels?

For someone whos admitted he'd see being NI manager as a lifetime goal being checked off, I don't think he'd pass up on that opportunity as he'd regret it forever if he never got another chance. It would just take the next appointment to be right, and then the decision makers at NI deciding to go for a youth coach/foreign after that, and hes arguably got a 12+ year wait to be considered again.

It would be shite but at least he'd be leaving a hero with you in a good place, which makes it likely he'd rejoin again later on.

Apparently Michael O'Neill is in the frame for the sheep job.

Not good news for us, if that's the case.

A rumour which seems to have stemmed from being at the St Mirren v Aberdeen game last week. Assume he was there though to see CBM and McMenamin. Yesterday, he was in Preston watching Ali McCann.

Under contract with his country for another 4 years culminating in a home Euros. Would he chuck that for Aberdeen? Not so sure. Would be hefty compensation for the Dons too.

Pretty sure though that Robinson will be the next Northern Ireland boss. Hopefully, it'll be in 2028.

The only saving grace really would be O'Neil being under contract for another four years with NI (could Aberdeen afford to buy out a 4 year deal for an international manager?) and the presence of Neil Lennon, who is higher profile in general management terms and has a higher level of success to his name than Robinson - you'd think he would most likely chuck his hat in the ring too.

Contracts often are negotiated by agents to allow both parties to walk away if it suits - often a 12-18 month “settlement”.

Andy Roxburgh made the last 8 of the Euros in 1992. Your point is? 😂

That makes Andy twice the manager of O’Neill.
