We should get more coverage and attention across the globe

Don't understand this logic at all. Do people in this Country care about the UAE league because Maradona manages there?

Did Chinese football get a huge attention boost the moment Fabio Cannavaro took charge of a club?

Do people even know that Harry Kewell manages Crawley Town?

First two are far, far bigger names in football than Gerrard. Kewell is a huge name in Asia, bigger than what Gerrard is in Europe, but Crawley Town viewing figures aren't up over there..

There'll be interest for a week or two, almost entirely from the UK, and then it'll fade to just being Liverpool fans interested in Rangers results.

Scottish games being shown on Bleacher Reports website is a far, far bigger deal for attracting Worldwide attention.

If Rangers had cash or an investment comming in they would have brought in a big name experienced manager, ...another inexperienced gamble just proves they're fucked.

This really is fantastic news. They've tried the exotic foreigner no one has heard of which got the masses (pun intended) salivating. Now they're going box office name with zero experience and they're really excited. The only thing missing is the track record of being actually any good at management.

Say what you want about Dave King, he's really got the number of the peepil and their intelligence levels.

They couldn't attract a manager with a big name, so they have gone for a big name and are praying he will make a manager.

Ever increasing risk with every appointment there these days.

They always go for the mystery box.

Was it a reduced rate when Rangers weren't in the top flight?

I'm not sure that it was.

The SPL had agreed a 5 year deal for £80m (£16m pa) before Rangers went bust

When they renegotiated the deal after Rangers went bust, the SPL didn't publicise terms. If I mind right they had to pay the SFL and Sevco a fair bit out of the contract.

By 2015 the SPFL had a deal worth "around £15m pa".

Anyone with a good track record (McInnes, Clarke) isn't touching it.

That means they're left with either untested (Gerrard / Murty), exotic (Pedro) or the unemployed. From that point of view, an untested but glamorous appointment (Gerrard) makes some sense, at least in terms of maintaining fan interest / enthusiasm.

So Rangers have appointed a manager who meets all their fans criteria. He’s catholic, one of his best friends is the manager of the team who have owned them for the past two seasons, he has YNWA tattooed all over his body instead of WATP, he’s a lifelong Celtic fan. They’ll welcome him with open arms.

Him and Rodgers actually never got on at all.

It's not "good for business". It's going to make f**k all difference. It'll be another shite appointment. We'll continue to laugh and Celtic will continue to increase the gap and the inbred fuckwits who's lives depend on Rangers being succesful will continue to suffer.

Can't complain really.

This will be great for the papers and Sky to rip the heid aff it over the summer with their war chest sensational big name signings chat. It'll fade to nothing, we'll all continue to laugh, he'll be ousted as a tarrier not up to the huge task and the wheel continues to turn. And hopefully come off again and giving us The Sevco.

Gotta admit, after the 4-0 and 5-0 I thought it might get boring as they become resigned to their diddy status, but this will get their hopes right up again. :)

A small part of me wants them to finish second, so they can believe they were unlucky runners-up and give it the whole "we're coming for Celtic" p*sh, then the s*it show can commence again for season 2018/19.
