From What I remember, much like Dipo, he was expected to leave, He didn’t sign for anyone once pre-season started so signed a new deal. The deal was that he would be released if his development fee compensation was met, the fee we would have been due if he’d moved to another club anyway.

Many players knew it was fluke coming 2nd and wanted to leave while their stock was inflated and rightly so. Mathie even confirmed a lot of people had decided before end of season. That, and the budget not being competitive with other clubs means players will always go to who pays the most and that’s just a fact. The chairman has chosen to invest in infrastructure rather than the playing staff - and while that’s his right to and long term it will pay off, in the short term he will just have to settle for championship survival. That’s a gross exaggeration of what he said tbh. He said 3 people had indicated early they weren’t re-signing. One was McAdams who’d been demoted to backup keeper so his stock was anything but high. Another was Mullin who had only been here permanently a few months.

He was due to sign a new contract for us but then COVID happened and the club didn’t know what was happening so it didn’t happen. He was out of contract but of an age where we got a development fee for him although it wouldn’t have been much. He definitely wasn’t under contract with us when MK Dons signed him.

I've just watched the interview, beyond the dynamic personality Mark Kerr exudes, he said that Harvey was offered a contract but a bid came in that met the release on it before he signed it, so it would be pointless anyway. The club at the time were getting stick because it was another summer of players leaving and we were getting zero fees due to one year deals.

In reality, there were about 7, if not 8 lads who knew before the season ended they weren’t going to be here for this season.

As discussed above, it is just an easy out for Mathie et al to claim that about Raith, and not even look at the clear good work done outwith recruitment at Raith over the summer. Mathie even used the excuse at our pre season Q and A of Raith selling more season tickets, which meant you were able to do your business earlier than us - without any context in terms of the good work Raith have done as to why your season ticket sales might be higher this year following our average attendance actually being higher than yours last season.

Richey Edwards
I tried money washing once and ruined a £20 note. This was back when notes were paper though.
Broken Algorithms
We've released a few players over the last few years who have had contracts with incremental increases over the last few years. Jamie MacDonald is the perfect example. We were apparently in for Stanger and he's ended up with yourselves. As Hank Scorpio says, we've sold record season tickets and our last two home league crowds have been up substantially from last season. Chuck in that one of the investors sold his care home business in the last few years for about £40m. We're building the club with renovations in the stadium, and a jump forward in online presence. People are overlooking a big factor of why some players are coming to us. It's easy to say "Fife Gretna" but there's work being done by people at the club which won't be visible unless you're privy to it. John Potter is the perfect example of that.
