Firstly I don't think the north of England is any more racist than anywhere else.

Secondly Labour dominated in the North of England in 2017.

Well Brexit voters are overwhelmingly racist and that's who Labour are desperately trying to appeal to. I mean, people in Sunderland didn't vote to destroy their own town because of anti EU socialist ideals, they did it because they are racist thickos.

I disagree and I think that labelling millions of people you have never met as racist thickos because of where they live might just be a teensy bit racist itself.

He asked for flexibility to lead a GE campaign where he can reach out to Leavers and Remainers and the freedom to lead negotiations so we can have a fair referendum. The membership clearly support that.

Looks like he's still sitting on the fence getting splinters in his arse.

He'll piss off the gammons because he isn't backing Brexit.

He'll not attract Remain voters because he isn't pushing a positive case for Remain.

It's the try not to offend anyone policy that actually manages to annoy a lot of the very voters he needs to get elected.

Oh, I wasn't branding them racist thickos because of where they lived, I was branding them racist thickos because they voted to make themselves, their family and the rest of us considerably worse off because they don't like immigrants.

The opinion you're expressing is a simplistic generalisation of the brexit debate.

A lot of these northern areas have been entirely left behind by the globalised policies followed by successive governments for the past forty years. They recognise that they've been shafted by the system and saw an opportunity to send a giant f**k you to the establishment (and yes part of the problem for many industries has been wage stagnation, partly caused by Eastern European immigration - which was much more prominent than the then labour government anticipated).

Of course there are some outright racist fucks thrown in but you can't tar all northern brexit voters with the same brush.

The Labour party has many different opinions in it and has tried to accommodate as many as possible. It's awkward and clumsy but anything else would've been reckless.

Watching C4 news on catchup and they're massively spinning it into a close vote, with edited shots of the hand count. Corbyn got a massive majority when I saw it live. For a change the BBC aren't the bad boys.

A massive Majority?

You cannot be fucking serious.

Is there any evidence to suggest that the majority of Labour voters in any part of the country voted Leave?

If not it’s a fucking bizarre electoral strategy to base a policy on.

Yes it's good strategy to abandon 30% of your voters.

Also it's obvious that the leave proportion is greater in target seats than safe city seats.

Your loyalty is admirable but every time you make reference to seats, voting outcomes, geographic trends you are referencing a vote which took place almost 3-1/2 years ago, with most current evidence suggesting a significant swing towards Remain.

Labour has chosen to (once again) vacillate and ignore that, and history tells us that Mibbes Aye/Mibbes Naw parties don't appeal to voters. No matter all the melon-sized grins of McLuskey and his fellow travellers at today's bunfight, the real smiles tonight will be in every Lib Dem branch south of Manchester. And you can right off Scotland pronto.

How many more defections to the Lib Dems will there be by the end of the week?
