Brendan Rodgers peaked in his first season. It was always downhill from there, and that's where it's gone. I don't really see what, other than winning the treble for a third time, could keep him where he is.

I honestly thought he'd see out the season at the very least, but if he's thought that an opportunity like this wasn't going to come up again soon then it's a bit of a no brainer.

I was reading The Times on the train this morning and the back page article had it that Leicester were prepared to wait until the end of the season but Brendan wanted out now.  Most of the article is behind a paywall but isn't worth reading anyway: https://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/sport/leicester-pay-celtic-6m-for-brendan-rodgers-g6bzwq020

Leicester’s Thai owners did not balk at a £6 million compensation package for Celtic and had been willing to wait until the summer for the Northern Irish manager. However, Rodgers, 46, was willing to move back to England immediately and take over at a club that are 11th in the table after a poor run under Claude Puel.

For perspective £6m is slightly more than Kilmarnock turned over in an entire year but not quite as much as Motherwell.

The really interesting 'perspective' is that Leicester were prepared to wait until the end of the season...unless you're suggesting that Celtic took the money to let Brenda run knowing they have 8 IAR in the bag.

I wasn’t suggesting that because that’s self evident.

Do they genuinely see themselves as a plucky few stalwarts standing up against the might of some overpowering empire?

A lot of them do, yes.

You've only to read the shite incisive historical polemics they post on here.
