Not sure how they can call it blended learning - S4-S6 pupils have been sent home and are home learning instead - it's really a partial closure. For those that aren't crying out for schools to be closed already. Although it's still not a perfect solution, if they've now cancelled exams for this year, would it be worth trying blended learning for S4-S6 pupils? Would this make make much difference to transmission in schools, would kids education be impacted any more than it already is with having to self-isolate etc?

Had flights booked for Krakow in March, we’d been talking about moving them to later next year. Flight now cancelled and been offered refund or voucher. Looks like most airlines are going to take the chance. I’ve taken a refund for my flights in February to Berlin. Still waiting at the moment.

The place is about the size of Dundee ffs. Part of it is that the later you decide to apply stricter measures, the longer you have to keep them in place. They waited until prevelance was high, then chucked a two week mini lockdown at the problem, then simply released back into their original restrictions regime. In Scotland, by comparison, the October circuit breaker took Scotland off of that gradient all 4 nations were on at the time. The more restrictive tier system and then the application of tier 4 measures in the two months since then have kept our prevelance decreasing. I suspect though, we might see a levelling off in our decline once the West is back in tier 3. Edited December 11, 2020 by renton

Have said before but worth repeating given this eye watering figure: how could it possibly cost this much? https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/dec/11/uks-test-and-trace-repeatedly-failed-to-hit-goals-despite-22bn-cost I'd be interested to know how many people connected to it are now millionaires. And folk say we are running out of money this utterly mental f**k up should be proof forever more that we can chuck money at anything we want.
Bairnardo
And folk say we are running out of money [emoji38] this utterly mental f**k up should be proof forever more that we can chuck money at anything we want.Na, Kuenssberg will be sorting out a "Utility bills to pay and now the weans wanting Disney+" analogy just now to make sure the great Brirish public remain as indifferent as ever to the outright crookery going on at the top. Honestly, when you talk to folk about politics you still get folk ranting on about the expenses scandal, yet the virus and Brexit has shown up some scandalous and brazen Tory conduct and no one gives a f**k. It's incredible

It's incredible The sad thing is you're quite right, I assume she has never done any training around economics. I can't believe how unbothered people are, Tories should be widely ridiculed most of the time but I can't wait for them to come door knocking for the election. I might have to address my usual gambit of asking them if they think I'm a disgusting homophobic racist? If they say no they I obviously tell then I have no interest on supporting a party that has their views.

Government can and should borrow/issue currency if it is put into productive use. The English test and trace by all accounts hasn't actually done anything much to control covid spread and allow more economic activity to proceed to justify the cost. I'm sure in the fullness of time it will be properly accounted for but I wouldn't be surprised if 20 of those 22billion was completely wasteful nonproductive expenditure. I agree but benefit fraud cost £2billion and folk went mental mainly due to the media this has been an utter waste of public money its a grace to suggest England can't afford to have free tuition/ free parking for NHS staff/ free personal care for the elderly. I get fuming that this is a political choice to move public money into the pockets of the wealthy and the private sector and no one cares. Channel 4 should be following the head of Serco round turning their life into a reality show, they should be hounded wherever they go from paps snapping then taking their first shit of the day to what port they have as a night cap we own the fuckers so let's get some entertainment out of it.
