We won't.

People who seek any sort of confirmation bias though?

At the end of the day, even 90% efficacy means that 10% of people who get the vaccine won't have protection. That of course is very effective but when you consider that there will presumably be a huge lift of restrictions upon vaccinations being administered, then IMO, it's going to be absolutely unavoidable that there will be an initial rise of cases for a month or two.

The potential impact should be researched and communicated in advance as failure to do so is unfortunately giving the anti-vaxxers and conspiracy theorists, something substantial to use. We need to remember that despite us living with more access to information than we've ever had at any point in human history, ignorance, wilful or otherwise is probably more rampant than it's ever been.

As well as what's already been said about the severity of any infection, the 10% will benefit from others being vaccinated and reducing the chances of them coming into contact with it at all.

If they plan to deliver 40 million by end of March then I expect they'll actually deliver about 18,000 and thank everyone for their hard work getting us up to capacity while Hancock maniacally laugh/cries into a camera on BBC News.

Most of Europe has had the outdoor masks rule for months it's not exactly new.

Hasn’t exactly helped all that much has it tho? Neither did banning the people from going out for a wee walk and having the stormtroopers stop every person they saw in the street to check their papers were in order. Cases and deaths were still through the roof

Going to be a lot of folk pissed off when hancocks "over by spring" comment doesnt happen.I file it in the same box as the "better by june" "over by xmas" comments, lets just get it rolled out and everybody vaccinated that needs to be before in a timely manner

The 1 million that the SG pledged would be vaccinated by the end of January would be a start.

Having another vaccine is obviously good news but this chat of oh I guess we should wait until everyone in every vulnerable category has got their two jabs and then drum our fingers waiting on the impact before we can possibly lift restrictions is concerning. We already have objective criteria in place for the tier categories in Scotland: these should be applied again, with greater emphasis on ICU cases over time, rather than positive cases among the general public which become increasingly irrelevant. Progress in vaccinating vulnerable categories should therefore feed into the ending of restrictions in various parts of the country, it should not be a pre-requisite to start doing so.

Absolute NAP that Sridhar starts playing up 'but... but... long Covid!!!!1111!!!!' to maintain her crusade for endless restrictions*.

Apparently UK capacity for the AZ vaccine production is 150,000 per day, 5 days a week.

Unite union official Dave Griffiths confirmed the Wrexham site has now taken on 40 staff. It plans to produce 150,000 vials a day, five days a week - as soon as it gets the green light.

5 days a week ffs. That is pathetic. In the middle of a pandemic where we are under the tightest restrictions of people’s lifetimes and they won’t work weekends to produce more vaccines. Unbelievable.

Bear in mind it's the Express and Shop Steward Dave might not be fully in the loop. Hope not anyway.

They (NS and BJ) seem to be saying the spring for Level 0 type conditions. In some ways it is good there is no detailed road map because doing so would be claiming a level of knowledge that would be more about PR rather than science. The main rate limiting factor is how quickly vaccine vials can be supplied by Pfizer and AstraZeneca and that is outside their control.
Not looking for definite dates, but just an idea of what restrictions can be eased once certain levels of vaccinations are reached. E.g. what easing will there be when all the over 60s and clinically vulnerable have had their jab? I don't think that's too much to ask for folk like me who are currently around 30 millionth in the queue and would like to get on with life sometime soon.

If there was ever a case for putting on a bit of weekend overtime...

Yeah I wouldn’t take it as gospel, but if does end up being the case I hope there is severe pressure put on them.

Some of the quotes coming out about production volumes seem more aimed at share price than any realistic expectation. Pfizer promised 10 million by tomorrow, I can't find any information suggesting they've managed as much as 2 million so far, or even 1 million verified.

No I agree was just pointing out it's not novel.
