Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Too bad it'll just be some bullshit statement about following the rules same as you and me, and no questions from pesky journos who might be out to show him up in front of a few million folk. Horrible, horrible c***s.

No offence here, but I don’t think you’re getting it. It’s not just about having specialist training with kids that have certain needs, a lot is about familiarity. If he’s fighting this one out, he’s definitely using the kid

Only if it's true.

It doesn't need to be true. No-one's going to ask him to prove it. A doctor isn't going to come out and say "well, actually...". It's a hidden condition for most in that people don't 'look' autistic.

Next question: "So it's ok for other parents with autistic children to flout government rules and travel hundreds of miles by car while knowingly infected with coronavirus?"

Don't see how autism is a freebie for Cummings here.

The autism thing is the perfect excuse. It immediately lets all the things he's done fall into the "permitted" category, and also gives BoJo an out as to why he didn't discuss it yesterday (not his place to discuss someone else's child's medical conditions). No journalist is going to ask for proof.

It is absolutely bulletproof.

One in 100 people in the U.K. are autistic.  250,000 people in the U.K. have tested positive for COVID-19.  The overlap between the two must be significant.

Logic dictates therefore that many vulnerable parents have suffered the same dilemma as Cummings and his wife.  Many other parents will have similar, though different, serious issues to deal with.  Such people have coped with this at the government’s behest rather than doing what they did.

Also his son’s autism, if true, does not excuse his trip to Barnard Castle.  That is not bulletproof.

Either do I - but I suspect many people will.

I think we may be slightly at cross-purposes here Gaz. My knowledge of autism and it's manifestations are minimal and I get your point re. medical confidentiality.

My question is to just how mendacious and venal the Cummings / Johnson axis would have to be to use a child with a phantom medical condition in order to save your political skin.

1) Agree completely.

2) Disagree. We are allowed to drive out of our area for recreation. That's what he'll say.

Apologies for the formatting, I'm on my phone.

Just sounds like another open goal. One rule for your family etc.

He obviously won't be taking any questions because he isn't accountable to the public and because it would be massively embarrassing for him and Johnson.

Your right, a doctor wouldn't but if this is the route they're going down and it's not true it will shirley come out some how. You would think it would have been common knowledge around Westminster if it was true. There's also friends/enemy's and family who might be tempted to leak to the press

Anyone happy about mob behaviour directed at anyone should just block or mute me now and be done with it.

Anyone who hasn't thought of ignoring that balloon before now should take a good look at themselves.

I can imagine the child's next visit to the GP might be a bit uncomfortable for the parents.

'When did I diagnose autism in you child?'

Seems strange that all the pet poodle journos etc that nobody has mentioed autism before if indeed it is the case

Yes, very. It seems to have started from someone 'mishearing' a news report on LBC yesterday.

If also does not excuse travelling back to London then back Durham and back to London again.

He was in London on 14 April when he should have still been in isolation.
