Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Recommended Posts

When Paris locked down people moved out to secondary homes or to be with family elsewhere. Some carried it to places previously untouched by the infection.
One of the troubling aspect is that you don’t know you have it until you feel the symptoms meaning you could be passing it in for up to seven days without even knowing.
The threat of a lockdown in London will result in a similar scenario with people getting out of the city and going to stay with friends and family.
Boris specifically said people shouldn't head off to holiday homes from London. Doesn't mean that will stop them I suppose although I don't see the harm if they go there and don't mix with the locals.

I've run out of greenies - and as I'm in the "at risk" category, I'm not supposed to venture out of the house to replenish non essential supplies.

Maybe you’ll stop sprouting rubbish now.  Lettuce wait and see.

North Wales warned them to stay away last week. There are a lot of specialist anti english xenophobes there with matches and accelerant, so those warnings should be heeded.

I expect the cornish to be quite militant too.

My work are claiming that if a member fo your shift gets disgnosed with corona, we don't all need to isolate because they will come in and do a deep clean.....

Nae bother

We’re the same. Absolute shambles.

We're not too afraid of God over here, after all. All Presbyterian and Methodist services are cancelled.

Aren’t yous all about a direct relationship with God? You should start panicking when the Catholic’s begin cancelling Mass.

Just back from the big Lidl in Craigmillar. Not a lot of folk about.
Apart from the fresh veg aisles, it basically looks as if it’s been looted.
Freezer cabinets pretty much empty.
Going to spend the next couple of days cooking and freezing dishes.
Sending hugs and kisses to you all from the southside of Capital City. [emoji177][emoji177]

Just had email from Sky saying you can pause your sports subscription among other things

I tried online - it makes you phone. Over an hour wait.

It did say on the website they are looking to allow people to do it online tomorrow at some point.

At first I wasn't particularly happy with my works response, but some things have been cleared up and some measures have been put in place to help protect us. We have (high alcohol content) hand sanitisers at every door now, but they've also had all the internal doors double hinged so we can kick them open rather than having to pull/push a handle (just waiting on the first broken nose when someone is coming out the bogs and meets big 20 stone Davey who is blootering the door the other way). We have a secure premises as we're a known consignor so only the people who work here can get in and we've banned all customer visits, even the delivery drivers are being told to stay in their vans whilst we load their truck for them. Some folk have been sent to work from home already and they're preparing more laptops for others to do the same. The MD reassured everyone the company is in a good position to pull through this but it would need commitment from the workers to try and get to work whenever possible/safe to do so. He's also came into each office every day to ask if the work is dropping, I think when he starts hearing that there's no further work coming in he'll close us down for a week or so until other companies start returning. A fairly level headed approach and I think the work force are all quite happy for now.

Our customers, who rely on our engineers travelling from country to country to fix things, not so happy. Someone mentioned ships still being held in China with containers on them, there are going to be many, many more stuck in the USA because the coastguard won't let ships sail until certain problems are resolved, but with no engineers able to travel nothing is getting fixed at the moment.

That Diamond Princess cruise ship has our equipment on it too, they've just sent us an enquiry for upgrading their electrical equipment because they've had to strip out all the air conditioning units to fit newer, bigger units that are riddled with COVID-19. It's been a great laugh telling the engineers that one of them will need to go to it as soon as the travel ban is lifted.

"Spain’s central government had been criticized by some regional authorities, who run the nation’s decentralized public health system, for taking too long to shut down the entire country."

They should try Boris and his band of merry men...........

Been thinking, I wonder if its worth a thread or if it might be seen as a bit of  a circumvention of potential lockdown procedure, but there will be lots of guys with trades on here out of work or very very slow. There will also be lots of folk stuck at home with nothing to do maybe considering home improvement type stuff that's been ont he back burner. Maybe a wee chance for some guys on here to line up some homers for a bit of cash, with other posters looking for odd jobs done? Appreciate the supply chain etc is a bit fucked but surely a few folk been holding off on rattling some shelves up or that type of shit.... Potential to help eachother out

Are you still working in a bookies? Must be a bit like isolation I'd have thought with next to nothing to bet on.

Leaving in April and nope, still as busy as per. They've all migrated to international racing and *checks ledger* e-sports and Russian basketball.

Holiday homes not such an in issue as you say. Folk returning to family homes potentially more problematic but not if they and their family household self isolate rather than going out on the lash with their old pals.
