We're one step close to getting these horrible things binned entirely. That list is another in a long line of illogical covid measures. By all means go and sit with 70 people inside a train carriage but a few hundred of you can't go and watch Montrose in a minimal risk outdoor setting without a QR code. It makes absolutely zero sense whatsoever when the higher risk settings don't need it. If they come in in England there is not a cat in hell's chance the perennially more cautious Scottish Government won't follow suit I honestly think he’ll plough on regardless to get them introduced. There is absolutely no need for vaccine passports domestically. Have they thought about how many people they’d be ostracising by introducing them? Like you say they’re illogical as you can cram into a train without one, then go to a seaside league game with 200 people spread around the place and outdoors, but you’d need one? Farcical the 4 nations would all introduce them. Seemingly there was a meeting or zoom call or whatever with all 4 leaders last week to discuss it
Bairnardo
Re the passports, having been arguing the toss with some gammon elsewhere, can someone clarify for me who it is they "protect"?Because, if vaccinated people cannot catch and carry the virus, it doesn't matter in terms of safety if they mix with unvaccinated people. If they can catch and carry the virus, then its not any safer to mix only with vaccinated people.Further, attendance at every venue other than pubs is going to be underpinned by swatches of unvaccinated people (children)In what way does this scheme provide "safety" for anyone. I honestly don't know the answer but am puzzled by people just pigheadedly saying"if it keeps us safe uts worth having!!!"

Also EdinburghLive not understanding the meaning of stay local in the Portobello article, the majority of these people will have come from the same area. These articles give the wrong impression, the angle of the photo from Portobello gives the impression of no social distancing, I can see social distancing. Mental heath affects your well being and your physical health, this will probably gave a lot of people a big lift and a chance to get away from the house. Looking at the photos it seems more like an average cross section of ages you would find anywhere on a nice day and they are behaving themselves, I cant see why anyone's knickers are getting in a twist over this. Has anyone noticed that the huge jump in cases expected from the thousands of Rangers fans celebrating the league title never happened and was ignored when they realised the case numbers were still falling? Why does our media want us to hide under our beds forever? Portobello fair enough, but the carry on at the meadows was inexcusable, there have been videos doing the rounds of folk getting bottled. No need. -

This. They aren't about keeping anyone safe. They are about reassuring the members of the public that have been conditioned to believe certain activities are unacceptably dangerous that they are now safe again. They will be a legacy of Government and media fear porn. A ridiculous solution to a wholly avoidable problem.

Honestly, when I challenged this particular gammon, "we just don't know" formed a large part of the response. But even still, I am either missing something obvious, or there's no logical way to conclude it offers additional safety over and above the vaccine itself. Even by a tiny margin

Even by a tiny margin If it was last summer, then they would have merit because there was no vaccine, so requiring a negative test to partake in certain activities you could argue would have made it safer to allow venues to open at full capacity. This summer, though, they are psychological at best, coercion at worst.

The J&J one is the ideal candidate for the 18-30’s with the efficacy and given the clinically vulnerable will be already done its a shooty iny for an age group with little mortality risk already. You're ignoring that the J&J vaccine is low class. It'll be Pfizer for this refined bear.
Detournement
I'll say it again. The Vaccine Passport has f**k all to do with the virus. It's about surveillance, behaviour modification/social credit and economic control via cashless society. This has been on the agenda for years as a project called ID2020 and Covid is the excuse to push it through in every American aligned country. D.V.T.
https://blogs.gov.scot/statistics/2020/09/15/counting-people-in-hospital-with-covid-19/ Basically they did an audit and changed the definition as the numbers had stabilised around 250 during the summer.I think it dropped to around 70 folk that day, so in the summer it must have been in the teens.

No need.Bottling is always unacceptable lockdown or not . It’s also a shoe in that there is drunken disorder on the first sunny day of spring each year . Again lockdown or not
