booj1893
Xhaka is an absolute liability
Deanburn Dave
Put your hand on an opponents throat and push him to the ground and it's a red card all day long. Xhaka is an absolute fud.
Theroadlesstravelled
The ref booked xhaka for the foul. How can he then overturn the yellow for a red for the separate incident of xhaka grabbing by the Burnley guy’s throat?
craigkillie
It's all part of the ever-increasing creep of VAR, with it needlessly getting involved. The players have a shoving match, the ref sorts it out and everyone is happy, but then it zones in on a single isolated part of that. It's not some egregious act of violence, it's a shove.
jagfox
Had pregame concerns about Leicester shipping another three at home. Nice to see Maddison back on form. Brighton are a bit of a gang.
Derry Alli
29 minutes ago, pandarilla said: So what is it? Just luck? It's exceptionally poor officiating coupled with an alarming unwillingness to go against the bigger teams in the league. It's nothing new, VAR is just magnifying the incompetence more. We watched Salah dive all over the place and instigate contact for a season and yet still be awarded penalties. Today we witnessed Fulham have a man taken out in the box and receive nothing. We watched Mane try to buy a penalty and Firmino dive in the same incident and neither one was cautioned (to be fair, at least Mane looked sheepish as he got up). We watched Minamino nearly take a Fulham players head off 20 yards from the Fulham goal and watched the ref play advantage - as the Fulham player holds his face and tries to knock the ball over the head of oncoming attackers. We also watched Liverpool be awarded a penalty for the ball hitting the hand of a player in the wall whose hand was on his chest. Not outstretched. Not lifted. On. His. Chest. I said it when it before it come out, it's a massive waste of time and resources. It has not been used properly and is still a massive waste of time and resources. Still, we get retakes when a goalie is 2 inches off his line at a penalty.

buchan30
To be fair to arteta, he did say that his strikers would get on the end of a cross sooner or later.

vikingTON
The seethe of that fat Arsenal gammon in the stand with his bogging mask falling all over the place. Delicious.

It's a non-event, the sort of thing that will happen on football pitches up and down the country every weekend. Because it gets slowed down and scrutinised in detail (and because it's a player who is already considered a loose cannon and folk are therefore happy to jump on), it looks a lot worse than it is. His hand is on his throat for about half a second and then he pushes him away. Making it out to be some scandalous violent act is Helen Lovejoy stuff.
parsforlife
I haven’t seen the incident but even before VAR it was well established that putting you hands anywhere near an opponents throat was risky as f**k.
