On seeing that abomination of a board further up the page, what style of pieces and board design does everyone use?

I like the marble on burled wood look.

I like to change it every now and again. I sometimes get worried certain combinations will lead to me not spotting moves quite as easily which may come in handy as a great excuse for losing games.

GCarlos9 defeats JohnnyDun418 by resignation.

JohnnyDun does the honourable thing when blundering his queen.

Mackieboz currently after I never resigned after blundering my Queen:

GCarlos9 defeats Mackieboz by heart break.
I'm utterly distraught at that. I should have moved my queen out before she got fenced in? I dunno. I'm still new to this and feel like I'm at least putting up a fight in most of my games, maybe next season we'll see some progress.

On the topic of which board you use, I had to tell @madwullie not to send me any more screenshots until he got rid of the ghastly 3d effect he had chosen. I prefer a nice simple layout. Here's one from my friendly with SergioLoves. Also note that he tried to implement the Nimzowitsch Defence (the Franco-Nimzowitsch variation naturally) but I declined it.

Also well done, sorry. Some fucking fight back, I don't know how people get so much accuracy with so many moves, especially after the loss of the queen.

It’s a lot easier to be accurate with your moves when you’re  behind, as you have less to make.  I would have lost that game if it was a speed game, as the one day format was giving me a lot of time to plot.

I tend to blunder a lot at the start as I don’t know how to open, but once the pieces are setup I tend to do better.  With a bit more experience you won’t lose matches like that.
