I was surprised at Guy Opperman’s support for Boris given that Opperman seems for the most part a decent principled bloke. I’m mindful that on here he’ll be dismissed as Tory scum, vermin etc by the civic and joyous.

What this week did highlight is that the SNP are an absolute rabble and an embarrassment to Scotland. Watching PMQ’s through my fingers I couldn’t help but notice that they have no self respect, appearing on TV unkempt, disheveled and barely managing to string a sentence together. Before PMQ they interviewed some snp wimmin that appeared to be in an outside toilet in Port Glasgow. She looked an absolute midden in need of a good scrub. Scaffs.

The other thing highlighted was the absolute disdain that the Tory’s hold for Scotland. Getting people to vote Conservative in Scotland is a hard enough sell with out the odious Rees Moggs and Goves of the world belittling the likes of Douglas Ross. I’ve often asked Tory supporting pals of mine, if the English hate us so much and we are such a burden, why are they so eager to keep us? It can’t be resources as they are old hat and taboo now. It also can’t be the union as they were quick to bin Northern Ireland. I still await an answer, maybe someone on here could enlighten me.

after this week and the revelations, your main takeaway in informed by a misogynist opinion. Second on your list was confirmation of the absolute disdain the UK Government holds Scotland in. And that is probably a vey distant second 🤣

I was always aware that the SNP were a rabble and that English Tories disliked us Scots. The coverage this week just reiterated both.

I heard some teh’bly posh Tory stereotype (Lord Who-Gives-a-f**k) on LBC earlier, defending Johnson to the hilt. Without a hint of irony, he warbled on in plummy tones about how this whole situation is the result of that dreadful little commoner Cummings encouraging politicians to casual clothing (whereas Boris, dear chap, has continued to wear suits). He went on to point out that these bally rebels who are turning on the leader would be drummed out the army for insubordination, what! Jolly bad form to turn on the general, and not the kind of behaviour gentlemen ought to be exhibiting, by God.

Rees-Mogg has competition.

Vox pops like LBC are the absolute epitome of "anger porn" and a confirmation-bias serotonin factory. In many, many cases, the apparently 'innocent person just calling in because this issue means a lot to them', turns out to be an obvious plant, either working for a political party in some capacity or being in some way connected to campaigning.

The fact LBC still broadcast Farage says a lot about the ad revenue and demographic they are chasing.

This was no mere vox pop, but a special guest - a peer of the real whom we were supposed to take seriously. I think Farage decamped under a cloud to GBNews last year.

Tbh I'm a bit surprised Cummings hasn't been banged up in the Tower under the Official Secrets Act by now, you'd think he'd at least have some duty of confidentiality for the lifetime of a Parliament. As Johnson's Chief of Staff he has to be at least as culpable as anyone else for what went on too.

He has crimes to answer for that pre-date this nonsense. His promotion, along with Aaron Banks, of dog whistle rhetoric, funding racists and generally having a deep seated contempt for anyone who might show a bit of compassion to anyone that may display a dark shade of skin should be on the docket before his arsing about in Durham.

Ah, right, sorry didn't realise that. In that sense I am sure you were served up some exquisite mental gymnastics for your pleasure.

You are probably right about GBNews, after all it's become so right wing that even Andrew "I will lie about the SNP" Neil doesn't want to be associated with it. Last I heard they hired Eamonn Holmes, who is absolutely dyed in the wool boomer gammon, who gets confused that society moves forward and has yet to reconcile the fact his views are perhaps wildly out of date now.

Glen Minter still expecting sexual arousal from his political viewing, apparently

I don’t think it’s too much to ask for custodians of the country to be well turned out and take a bit of pride in their appearance. Maybe I’m just a bit old fashioned. It’s become apparent that the SNP oiks and their followers think otherwise.  Once a scaff, always a scaff I suppose.

I suppose there'll be some folk who think the dressing up nicely means that you are in some way special, or honest, or trustworthy.  Then you look at Boris, the former Prince Andrew, Vladimir Putin and Owen Paterson.

You might be convinced. I'm not.

Posh voices and expensive suits = just plain better than the prolesdon’t you know. As for women, well, we never should have started letting them wear slacks. It just gave them ideas. The sensible ones know to stick to twin-sets and pearls (and, so as not to offend the real crackpots, they also know to stay well away from commentating on gentlemen’s sports).

Incidentally, James O’Brien was talking about this just the other day: he pointed out that characters like Rees Mogg and various titled figures are wheeled out purely because such a large contingent of UK society really is backwards enough to link what they consider the appearance of intelligence and competence (upper class English accents and tailored suits) with genuine ability. It’s also why that old spiv the Queen literally invents medals to bestow on her talentless family; they need to appear dripping in decorations and Ruritanian splendour to gull their inferiors. The class system still dominates and forelocks will still be tugged by those who know their place. The real scam that’s always been pulled, though, is that these types have such cringing deference to their betters that they can only salvage a shred of self respect by convincing themselves there are swathes of folk beneath their contempt.

Lol straight out the Toff playbook, trope 101. A truly stereotypical response to a classic Brit stereotype.
What next, accents ?

Oh and I take it you have noticed the total Scarecrow in charge of the zoo ?

Imagine watching Prime Minister's Questions in 2022 and complaining about how the opposition are dressed and turned out.

Toff playbook my arse. It must be a generational thing. If you are going to take £80k per year off hard working taxpayers, at least be able to string a sentence together in English and make an effort with one’s appearance.

Obviously lost on these SNP jakeys.
