Thistle_do_nicely
Girlfriend (or fiancee as of valentines day) has finally been awarded PIP... backdated. Over £6k. I'd popped the question prior to her getting the money before anyone makes any gold digger jests my way (my dad made sure to get one in, of course) Pretty thoroughly deserved pip award too, she's doing well considering but 2x major surgeries in two years and ongoing chemo means she's not realistically in any state to do even part time work, it is all taking its toll. It'll be a huge help prior to all the costs/utilities going up in April and all.
BFTD
The DWP are currently under instructions to be as cunty as possible, so that's very good news. Hopefully that's something of a relief to her and she can concentrate on important things.

Stu
Dad diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus about a month before the first lockdown in 2020. Chemo, operation, more chemo and it was looking good. Won't bore you with what happened over the intervening period but now told he only has six to 12 months left. Always knew this day would come but pretty gutted is an understatement.

supermik
Sorry to hear that Stu. unrelated but as I mentioned a few posts back, I lost my aunt a few weeks back. She had always kept pretty good health but she had felt a little bit lethargic for a couple of weeks. She went to the doctor for a quick blood test then went on her way out shopping. About an hour later she got a call to say that some numbers were not right and that she should maybe pop along to the hospital for a double check. Within a couple of hours she was told that she was riddled with cancer. Two days later she was told that she had between 6 and 8 weeks! She went after 7 weeks. She donated her body to medical science and was taken by a university in Glasgow. Apparently when they are finished with her, her remains will be cremated and returned in about 3 years. Undertakers cost for collecting her body, storing her for a few days and then handing her over. £200.

Sorry about your Aunt, but that sounds like a bargain given the way they charge for funerals. Nobody wants to think about money when you lose someone and they fair take advantage.
