sophia
In this union of equals how come England can shatter the plans of Wales and Scotland?

From a purely pragmatic viewpoint, it would be ridiculous to have separate schemes in different parts of the UK, requiring different barcodes for the same items. It seems odd that glass is excluded, though. It would make for a hugely unfair disadvantage to firms who mainly sell drinks in cans rather than bottles, Tennent's are raging about it.

Trogdor
I still think this is 50/50 over whether it is scrapped tbh.
ScotiaNostra
really the SNP/Greens if it had any "bottle" would just go ahead and implement in the way they want. That they look unlikely to isnt a surprise as they are clueless and just react to the moods swings rather than steer a steady ship through it.

You do know what would happen if they were to break the law don't you?
Trogdor
I see C&C Tennent’s have written to the Scottish Secretary. Stating that their view has been misrepresented with selective leaks of their letter (to the Scottish Goverment). So was it the FM who misrepresented Tennent's or was it Greer when he suggested they would go bankrupt. They can't even spin effectively! My bet now... SG will cancel the DRS and then the blame game will start. Edited June 5, 2023 by Trogdor
Gringo
Just another example of the SG trying to do things differently. It was always obvious that this should be a UK wide scheme if we’re having one at all. Its certainly going to increase the cost of living at exactly the wrong time. Hope they get their comeuppence over this.

54_and_counting
Got to love the using of pictures of discarded glass bottles and cans in public areas, every one of the pics is clearly a trampy or neddy hangout where they get pished away from the view of plod Cant imagine all the wee neds who acquire booze in a morw discreet manner trying to return their glass bottles while steaming out their nut on a Friday night

It could be be the greatest fuckup in the world, the point is that Devolution only works as advertised if the Devolved Government is able to implement policies within it's competencies without interference.
