Garnier claiming a GE wouldn't be legit or fair because the Tories are in disarray

Mind-blowing, isn't it?  As if they'd allow their opponents some breathing space.  FFS they select election dates to coincide with their opponents' low spots.

Right, so according to Brady they are sending this to party members.

Holy f**k.

At least that will completely f**k the auld biddies who insist on sending in their vote by 2nd class mail, but I can only imagine they'll fudge it so there is only one candidate and the alzheimer's brigade don't come in to it.

They could hold closed door meetings at the weekend and fudge a result.

Genuinely fascinated by what administrative and presentational feat could possibly be pulled in order to make this not look like a stitch up.

"online ballot for members" would be a laugh given the average age of the Tory membership must be in triple digits

Johnson to take over and then have to resign after being found to have broken Ministerial Code by the privileges committee. Nap.

Would that count though, as it would pertain to wrongs in a previous role, for which he had already 'resigned'?

It's going to be Johnson isn't it.

I honestly wouldn't put it past him to stand, but I think he poses exactly the same problem for the parliamentary party that loonies like Braverman and Badenoch do.

For the sake of their own electability they need a PM that will command control of the party in the HoC. The extreme-right arseholes have shot their bolt and the parliamentary party realises their ideas are a guaranteed chaotic disaster, whereas Johnson comes under the category Walker spoke about last night. There was nobody willing to work with Johnson a couple of months back, so his Government would basically be himself, Nadine Dorries, and any other complete chancer with zero integrity and a ton of personal ambition willing to serve as a minister under a totally discredited charlatan PM.

I'd expect a Johnson govt would fall apart just as quickly as Truss's, lead to a GE, and the Tory rank and file MP's would still be out of a job. They need a stable PM who offers some sort of hope of them keeping their seats come late 2024. I reckon they'll engineer it so it's Sunak, Mordaunt, or Wallace.

"Boris Johnson has been picked on, and has handled himself with dignity"

Who the f**k is this arsepiece?

Now he's on about how fantastic it was to have a new Home Secretary named so quickly. Doesn't seem to realise it's highly likely Shapps will be fired into the sun within a fortnight.

He's not as daft as folk make out. He now looks like a saviour if he returns. Wouldn't put it past the slippery c'nts if this was their plan all along.

Banking on the GBP having memories like goldfish and having a calamity like Truss in power for 2 months will be enough for him to come back in. Prob banked on her being in till Xmas though and giving the Country a wee bit longer to forget what a lying corrupt b*****d he was during his time as PM.
