This morning, he was asked if "he signed off on the purchase" and he answered "no" (which is reasonable as he wasnt the treasurer at the time it was bought). What he has clarified is that (once he was reappointed treasurer) he saw the purchase had been made, as it was included in the 2021 accounts. That doesnt seem unreasonable if you look at the timeline of when he was and was not treasurer.

Not knowing about it until the 2021 accounts is a worry as it means he didn't know about it when the cash went out! The year end accounts are prepared long after the money has actually been spent. It just demonstrates how lax the financial control of the SNP had gotten. Beattie was treasurer in name only. It seems Murrell held all the levers of power as well as the bank accounts and credit cards. Sturgeon must be a great colleague to have. Breaking her exile from Holyrood to assist Beattie after his moment of confusion. I'm sure he's got the proper facts now to help deal with the difficult questions

ScotiaNostra
Where did it come from that the motorhome was bought for campaigning during covid? or something like that

GTee
Apologies for any rubbish posted last night. Had a few pints too many. What is the actual point of the SNP buying a campervan. Who does this benefit? Did they get up one day and say. I think we should spend some of the donated cash on something. What should we buy. I know. Let's buy a Campervan.

GTee
To be fair, a Campervan keeps it price pretty well. Maybe it was seen as an investment. Some sort of self-isolating mobile home. . Nic was too cautious to be travelling between 'zones' - whatever they were called - to be travelling around in a campervan. Hopefully there is a sensible explanation for this but I have my doubts. See when there was a tent outside the house. I would have thought all they would be looking for is a desktop or laptop. Surely they don't have piles of filing cabinets in their house, when there are probably offices all over the place. Not defending them, and something must be up, but some things have been a bit odd here.
