I assume Sadiq will be cup tied for AZ Alkmaar? Otherwise Aberdeen might have to face him again in the Conference League 😬

Pretty sure they scrapped that rule for European competitions a few seasons ago.

Probably better for the coefficient if aberdeen go into the conference league. Winning would get one point, and most likely that would be aberdeens lot against good opposition in the Europa. Got a chance of picking up a win or two in the conference.

Not a hope in hell. Will be more of the same

There's really no point in Scottish teams playing in Europe. Whenever they look like they might do something, there's always a joker like this Rubezic character or Jorge Grant last year hanging around ready to f**k things up.

What makes this worse is that Hacken are beatable. Robson has royally screwed up here.

Our defence is a shambles. We weren't clinical when the chances arose. Frustrating night all round.

Well done to Hacken. Will keep an eye out for their results in Europe.

A total of 2 competitive wins for Aberdeen since the start of May.

Fucking BOOOO

And one of them was against Stirling Albion. Poor Barry’s coat must be on a shoogly peg, the Dons are rotten.

No shame in losing to that lot but too many missed chances.

Hacken really weren't much better than Aberdeen at all.

Ibrahim Sadiq was excellent, outside of that Aberdeen really bottled it.

Scottish clubs are absolutely chronic at defending.

Even modest sides like Hacken find space so easily virtually any time they get on the ball.

That's not a Scottish issue as much as a Barry Robson issue this evening. Playing man for man defensively and with no credible defensive midfield from the start of the game were ridiculous calls.

It's such basic stuff. The first goal Shinnie lets their best player stroll forward totally unchallenged and get a shot off. The 2nd goal Devlin charges out his position and leaves said best player to easily score. The 3rd goal the defender makes a ridiculous challenge in the box. On a basic level it's individual incompetence but having watched the game those mistakes were partly due to the structure of Aberdeen allowing far too much space, particularly to Sadiq, meaning players were isolated.

Aberdeen should have been able to beat Hacken over 2 legs and won't get a better chance to reach Europa League group stages. They were let down by poor organisation and stupid mistakes.

Last week Ollie Watkins had Nebraska sized wide open spaces every time Villa came forward.

So I think the issue goes beyond Barry Robson.

In fact I'd point out that the two teams that dominate Scottish football, Rangers and Celtic, both have atrocious defences and those are the best teams in the country by a huge margin.

Would definitely agree with this.  Looked like Robson got it badly wrong on the tactics front, and was way to slow to change things up.  I think someone said earlier he'll struggle to see out the year, as much as Aberdeen need consistency I think he may be in trouble even at this stage.

The drop off in form of Duk must be concerning for Dons fans as he looks a shadow of the player he was.  Add to that a fairly ineffective midfield and some horrible defending (both Rubezic and Jensen looked fairly abysmal, Jensen in particular appeared to have no positional awareness whatsoever).

It's been fairly embarrassing for Scottish clubs all round in Europe so far.  It amazes me how far our clubs have regressed while so-called smaller clubs like Hacken can build themselves to this position.  There's been some spectacular thumpings this past couple of weeks.
