Bizarre. Exactly. The media coverage of this story is utterly bizarre.
ScotiaNostra
I was thinking the same, the stories we get in the media now seem to be social media run only, anything that has legs on social media becomes the top story so we have non stories like Gary Linekars views on whatever, Farage banking etc etc. Stories that would be a tiny article on page 9 of a newspaper 20 years ago now getting top spots.

PaddyCapri
A lot of folks eating humble pie as Farage receives an apology. Well done to much of the public for rallying behind him. Cancelling peoples bank accounts because of their political views is an absolute joke. It must stop now. The fightback starts! Yet, when somebody is denied a service from a company because of something like their sexual orientation or race, those same members of the public are quick to come out and defend that companies right to choose who they serve and who they don't under the guise of capitalism. Funny that.

Nigel Farage as Robin Hood. Never imagined I would see the day. The people treated horrifically by the banks are not those who don't have quite enough but those who hardly have anything at all. Fantastic. New improved Farage. Champion of the poor. Get to it. On you go.

The fightback starts! 1) Apology for comments recorded. 2) Account not reinstated. 3) Offered alternate arrangements with NatWest" 4) Farage’s tapdance around a question on his wealth confirms he’s below the threshold. 5) Humble pie most certainly not on the menu.

A Farage boaby sucker is the singular most bizarre stance I think I've seen even allowing for your sock puppet status. So did Nige mention if Coutts were apologetic enough to reopen his account, nah thought not . Take it you have closed your high street bank account in solidarity ?
PaddyCapri
Lefty twitter is still in meltdown over the bank's apology to Farage, but Salmond demands the King apologises too! C'mon, surely even you lot can see the comedy here? -

He's as much "clout" as Farage ie absolutely none.

ScotiaNostra
Farage wont "win" but it It will negatively impact Coutts and probably some of their employees. I would doubt it will encourage other banks to do the same and Coutts will probably clarify it so as to avoid doing it again to anyone else. Id guess a lot of their customers could fall foul of it, which would be a good thing but unlikely something that Coutts want to follow through on and lose customers
welshbairn
I'd say a Coutts card will have even more kudos now that low life like Farage get them taken off them.
