Billy Jean King
I'm sure I heard on news coverage that the "cook" in question has been involved in something similar previously.
D Angelo Barksdale
Good to see an old school style of murder in action. Reject modernity, embrace tradition.

Shipa
3 hours ago, Newbornbairn said: He would say that. I was involved in a jury trial once and realised how they work. The prosecutor takes bits of evidence from each witness and creates a story which paints the schmuck in the dock in the blackest light. The defence then takes bits of evidence from the same or more witnesses to create a story which makes the schmuck look like an angel. Neither of them present the full story from the witnesses and the jury doesn't get the full picture. QCs are just story-tellers. The one that spins the most convincing yarn wins. Agree with this. I've been a juror twice, both times at fairly low level Sheriff court trials. The witnesses swear to tell 'the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.' The reality is that the opposing counsels ask questions of the witness, and if the witness tries to expand they will be instructed to simply answer the question given. Although the oath calls for the 'complete truth' the witness is seldom allowed to deliver that.

Yeah, I heard something last week about an ex coming forward, citing having been admitted to hospital after eating one of her meals, iirc.
HibeeJibee
Her ex-husband suffered a 'rare intestinal failure' last year... 2 weeks in a coma and wasn't expected to live. Having invited him, his parents, his aunt and uncle round for a "reconciliation dinner" which he unexpectedly wasn't able to attend... 3 of the others are dead - with the 4th gravely ill - but she herself is fine after suffering comparatively lesser symptoms. She claims to have fed her children the dish the following day... but she scraped the mushroom off. She has subsequently disposed of her food dehydrator in a landfill site... and after the fact came to light, lied to the police about when she did so. Tbh it's not the strongest of 'Midsomer Murders' plots...

Absolutely classic crocodile tears attempt with not a tear in sight.
