Greenock Morton Vs Partick Thistle

Recommended Posts

Well that was a tough watch. Started well enough but once Partick got level there was only one team going to win the game. If O'connor is going to play he needs to be in at centre back. That obviously means we need a right back in which hopefully will be soon. Although early days Wilson has been awful so far. We really miss Oakley upfront and if Crawford is out for any period of time he'll be a huge miss too.

Partick deserved that today. We deserved f**k all with that performance . Of course its going to bring the boo boys out and rightly so.

Does "gang" mean dirty/hammer-throwing or does it mean "utter pish".

Make your mind up. (That goes to all who threw it around after Raith v Morton)

More generally;

I try to be as level headed as possible when reacting to matches but I really don't know where to start, other than...

What.

The.

f**k!?

I'm more happy to get one right up that w##k Robbie Muirhead f**k the killie b*****d

Thought Stanway was probably the best player on the park. The game passed him by for the first 15 minutes but as soon as he got a grip and started snapping into tackles, we looked much better. Whether he was the catalyst or not, he was great after settling in

He had a good second half. BBG and Lawless were brilliant. The only player who had a bad game, imo, was Harry Milne but that was more down to decisions made.

Front three were great; Fitzy had his man on toast, Lawless caused them all sorts of bother, and BBG with his brace.

Milne really struggled with Quitongo and just didn’t look at it all game, he didn’t even seem confident enough to go forward, which is unlike him

First 30/40 mins I thought we looked decent and in control. One ball over the top and Partick equalised and we then were all over the place.

I don’t think there’s really much between the two teams other than we’re soft as shite at the back and absolutely leaking goals. All of which are because of criminal defending. Amateur stuff! And with only having 4 defenders we have pretty much no option to change it up. We could go three at the back but it still leaves us shoehorning someone into a RWB position. What’s that? 11 goals shipped in the league this season so far. We need bodies in and quickly. Let’s hope Crawford isn’t out for any length of time if at all because we missed him badly when he went off today as well.

ETA - Don’t know if it’s been mentioned or not but Broadfoot lucky not to get caught sticking the nut on Graham in the first few mins.

Shout out to the laughably hopeless and feckless BTP officers for their performance at Cartsdyke post-match. Wouldn’t let anyone access the platform or make their way across to the other side until the Glasgow-bound train arrived. Elderly fans, parents and their children crushed together in the walkway leading to the station, Morton fans refused access to the Gourock-bound platform and to their cars parked on the other side of the track.

Total overreaction and a typical sledgehammer to crack a nut scenario. Embarrassing.

Really missing Oakley, he's vital to how we play. Muirhead offers zero presence whatsoever and it's fairly easy for any half decent centre back to defend against him playing as a lone striker.

Thought Boyd looked promising in the early cup games but he's been awful against teams not at that lower level. McGrattan is our best wide midfielder and should be starting every week.

Power anonymous, Wilson utter garbage. Blues better this week than last at least and tbh a tough ask to have him in the Robbie Crawford role as he doesn't have the same energy levels and isn't as effective pressing.

The biggest problem of all though is quite clearly Kirk Broadfoot.

Dougie was quick to drop Efe last season after his horror show at Celtic park. Broadfoot has now had several horror shows and needs dropped immediately.

As things stand, I'd be tempted to just give Doyle - if fit again - a contract til January at least. It certainly isn't going to be any worse.
