ICTChris Posted September 14, 2023 Share Posted September 14, 2023 (edited) Highest population growth is in Midlothian (up 16.1%) and East Lothian (up 12.7%), both areas also saw large growth in the number of households. Assume this is due to the large levels of new build houses being put up in those areas catering to commuters to Edinburgh. Having said that Edinburgh population is up 7.6% as is the population of Glasgow, up 4.6%. Glasgow and Edinburgh also have the youngest populations, with 14% and 16% of people being over 65 respectively. The oldest area is Argyll and Bute with 27% of the population being over 65. The only area that saw a decrease in the number of households was Inverclyde, which was a very small drop of 0.1%.
