As did another Scottish Cup winner, Brian Hamilton.

Jimmy Bone from a bit further back.

Tommy Hamilton was also at Hearts for about 2 months, so that was 3 of the cup winning team.

I don't travel many of these being good for both teams, Bone maybe.  Plenty who were great for one or other

Anyway well done all you lot, got all the nostalgia front-loaded in the thread and safely out of the way; can we now discuss the match....

Your naïve optimism is very endearing.

I mean, yous probably had Alan Gow too at some point, lets be honest, who hasn't.

Also, overall that's a pretty poor list of players no matter how you frame it. Apart from the obvious ones.

Jim Hamilton

For all the chat in first few pages about Hearts messing up against us in the big games, one of the bigger ones of the last 10-15 years was the Scottish Cup quarter final replay at St. Mirren after a 2-2 draw at Tynecastle.

We start all over Hearts and go 1-0 through Hasselbaink...but the ref's already blown for a penalty. Which like Killie a few weeks ago vs County, we raged about and like Killie, missed.

That absolutely burst us for the rest of the match and turns the tide. Hearts ran out 2-0 winners, they win the next match with the famous Beattie penalty where he gloriously does a lap of the Celtic end with his tap aff and the final vs Hibs becomes the most iconic result for Hearts in the last 40 years.

Sometimes wonder how that would have panned out if Hasselbaink's goal stood. We had Hearts on the ropes before that happened and although it doesn't guarantee we'd have won, it felt like an opportunity we missed after doing all the hard work.

Always felt that St Mirren should have appointed Alex McDonald as manager instead of Davie Hay.

Whereas Hay sent in a professional dossier when he applied, McDonald just sent a one liner saying he applied for the job. Hay then talked a good game in the interview and got the job.

His appointment was a total disaster that took us years to recover from whereas McDonald went on to have a decent run of success at Airdrie.
