This is the type of mental appointment that we all love to see - just not at our own clubs. Seems a big gamble given where Caley Thistle are right now.

He'll have some good contacts I suppose, maybe you'll see a flurry of loan players from Everton (or Real Madrid!)

Was about to say something similar - don't know much about his spell at Forest Green other than him bombing out one of the few players who were actually playing well that season then sending him off on loan.

You're right generally, but this is Scot Gardiner we're talking about. An extremely staunch man, a former Rangers employee, appointed John Brown as Dundee manager, came up with the idea of ICT having an orange kit then released it on 12th July. Everything he does is with Rangers in mind, and if he can't find someone with a Rangers connection he'll get someone with a Hearts connection.

Didn’t he also try to do a deal at the Covid season which would’ve seen the Caley get less prize money, but would also have stopped Celtic being declared champions?
