Subbuteo was great, loved playign it as a kid, took me ages to paint red diamonds onto Leeds though to get an Airdrie team though. Built terracing out of lego and who knew you could get subbuteo casuals. Also provided the basis for lyrics of a half man half biscuit song.

It was shite. Like a perfect replica of the real thing.

I don't think you were meant to do it but when I played I used to 'ping' the player instead of flicking it. Occasionally if you caught it wrong, the pain at the base of the nail was more than a little uncomfortable.

Subbuteo was ace.  The big team posters you used to get introduced me to teams like Stuttgart Kickers, Fortuna Sittard and they daft American teams like the LA Hotdogs or whatever.
