Red numbers on back on stripes though: https://cairterscorner.com/welcome-to-the-kit-room/the-kit-room-1970-1979/ https://cairterscorner.com/welcome-to-the-kit-room/the-kit-room-1980-1989/ This is why I do what I do...classic strips! And a bit cheaper than collecting original football tops Numbers on the back (even red on black) would be worth a go and would look great
moses1924
Subbuteo was great, loved playign it as a kid, took me ages to paint red diamonds onto Leeds though to get an Airdrie team though. Built terracing out of lego and who knew you could get subbuteo casuals. Also provided the basis for lyrics of a half man half biscuit song.

tongue_tied_danny
A mate of mine had Subbuteo cricket. It was shite. Like a perfect replica of the real thing.
Alert Mongoose
I don't think you were meant to do it but when I played I used to 'ping' the player instead of flicking it. Occasionally if you caught it wrong, the pain at the base of the nail was more than a little uncomfortable.

Watching a game of Subbuteo was a bit like watching beginner AI try to learn the game. Still probably better than watching Falkirk try to get out of League one last season, so there's that. Stellaboz
The scoreboard was brilliant and I had the floodlights for an evening game, brilliant except for the fact none of my mates wanted to play.

I had subbuteo but not all the accessories required for that big match atmosphere. The crowd and the dugouts and the floodlights too.
hk blues
I had a football game in the 70's - I think it was called Big League. I made a c**t of painting the players though.
Hedgecutter
Had it and used it up to the point you laid everything out, try taking a few penalties and then thinking "f*** the idea of playing an actual game of this" before putting it back in the box.

Cappiecat1.2
@subbuteo_paints That's some top notch miniature painting, most impressive. Ignore the Philistines mate, they'll never understand the feeling of proudly holding aloft the three inch Jules Rimet trophy after winning the league with your Morton team that included an Andy Ritchie who's left ankle had to be replaced with a blob of Bostick after a horrendous tackle from a belligerent (and beaten) big brother.

Dumbarton strips were just too complicated for my lack of artistic talent.
Melanius Mullarkey
Subbuteo was ace. The big team posters you used to get introduced me to teams like Stuttgart Kickers, Fortuna Sittard and they daft American teams like the LA Hotdogs or whatever.
Molotov
I had Subbuteo with a St Mirren team at the time Fergie was manager. I had no money left over. The only accessory I could use to make it more realistic was to nick my sisters hairdryer!
velo army
I fucking loved subbuteo. I thought this was some bot account or clickbait rubbish, but bloody hell the work of the OP is gorgeous. I don't have twitter or insta so feel free to keep posting pictures of your work. World Cup 90 teams and early 1990's Partick Thistle next please .
