The point was made facetiously re the hotel, but it was serious.

Ange did nothing in Europe but I don’t remember any sack the board protests or booing of Santa Claus.

Wouldn't surprise me to see the elves wearing blue from next year, tbh. Disgraceful way to treat a pillar of the community.

Ange did nothing in Europe? Sorry, do you not remember the historic 0-3 loss to Real Madrid?

OK. It’s great that we’ve lost 2 league games. That better, lads?

Better… could you just go ahead and lose the next ten? That would be lovely. I think there is potential in this civil war that is brewing at your club and I want to see how bad it can get.

I knew Kilmarnock had one (at least I think they do again now under Bowie) but I never knew Hearts have one too, I shall save this for later on nightshift to pointlessly research.

I think I have heard a plan like this before....

See, a quick Google says a casino was planned across from Ibrox in 2004, but I seem to remember talk of rooftop casinos before that, maybe late 90s. Is my mind finally cracking or have I just conflated two things?

Why am I picturing John Cleese when people talk about a Celtic hotel?

Cleese is best known for excellent work in the late 60s and early 70s. He’s been living off that reputation for decades and these days isn’t particularly relevant

And he made a sitcom about a hotel

It’s not just the results it’s the manner of them, when was the last time you saw a Celtic team look this toothless? Many still haven’t forgiven the board for not matching Rodgers ambition in his first spell which led to the lazy Lennon appointment which blew up badly.

Yeah they may have bought a little grace with Ange and the subsequent success that followed as it looked as if it was going somewhere however with him leaving, bringing back PL, another lazy managerial appointment and a car crash of a transfer window well we have seen this movie before.

We are sitting on all this money, spend a fair chunk of it, substantially more than anyone else and still end up going backwards and being worse for it whilst watching clubs of similar size do well in Europe and us being kicked about like an empty tracksuit

Sure I saw a figure for Copenhagen's turnover which was significantly smaller than Celtic's so probably fair to take the view that you should be doing better.

That’s probably a case of Copenhagen having an exceptionally good run as opposed to Celtic having a particularly bad one. .

There’s usually some surprise team from an unfashionable league in the UCL last 16 last season it was Brugge at the expense of Leverkusen and Atletico. Celtic have had their turn a while back but  while it’s normal for that to happen there’s always far more teams that it doesn’t happen for.

Just as there’s nothing particularly surprising about there being a championship side in the cup semifinals but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be surprised if Queen of the South  in particular are there in April…

Well no I clearly never said anyone was primarily angry over that. It was an addition to my my point of staleness and lack of drive at the club. Be serious, please.

There will be some truth in your last claim but there has been a quiet disdain for our board growing past good few years. The timing of the banning the Green Brigade recently has made people talk about the board more, add in a large profit announcement of late, an awkward AGM the other month for them and the usual champions league pummelings  there's alot more to it than just losing one game or a rival revival.

There are obviously valid criticisms here, however I think the main point is the toys-out-the-pram level of anger being shown here.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that in recent history, the only times we have witnessed anything similar was after Rangers beat Celtic in the Scottish Cup Semi when Deila was manager, and then again when the sharks came out the season we won the league. Now that they have potentially surrendered a rather sizeable lead in the league we are seeing it again.

Celtic fans are content to stay relatively quiet and let things trundle along as long as you are better than us. The stuff about spending more money and progressing in Europe is only occasionally mentioned after a European humbling but is quickly glossed over as soon as you win your next domestic trophy.

You see it when Celtic’s financials are released each year and we see many of the fans boasting about profits and lording the cash in the bank figures over us. They rarely mention that they are unhappy more of it hasn’t been spent.

'Surprised' wouldn't do it justice 🤣

Sorry but this isn't true. I've heard and seen our fans complaining for months about the lack of investment to try and improve in Europe.

I’m not angry as like I said we have seen this movie before, what I am however is exasperated. We spend money but it’s how it’s spent that’s the issue, we seem to want to bring in a project, someone who “might” be good in a season or twos time with the aim to cash in what we never do is bring many in who are just ready to go and able to improve the starting 11 with the net result being a huge squad with little quality outwith the first 11 and a few of that first 11 below the standard we need I.e. Hart, Taylor, Scales, Palma and a few others.

If our board was ambitious we would take calculated risks and really have a go at Europe, we “should’ be able to win the Europa League using Rangers 21/22 as a barometer, it should be possible and we go from there but we don’t and we won’t. We will continue to do the bare minimum to keep ahead of Rangers but that plan will at some point fail just like it did in 20/21 so I don’t agree that Celtic fans are happy to be humbled in Europe, I’m not happy watching that

This Celtic team should and probably will still win the league if and only if the board wake up in January and clear out the dross and replace with players capable of pushing those first team players who are becoming complacent or just aren’t good enough

They complain but it never gets to a level of toxicity that we’ve seen in the last couple of days.

We even heard from Celtic fans last season about how European performances were better than their points tally suggested or about how we had the worst CL campaign ever. Any criticisms regarding a lack of investment get drowned out.

Obviously it’s my own personal opinion from my own experiences, but the main criticisms regarding a lack of investment only seem to gain any traction when there is a perception that the gap between Celtic and Rangers is closing whether that is the case or not.

Can't say I agree, the complaints have been pretty harsh since the summer (a lot of fans were vocally critical of our summer window at the time) and even when our lead in the league was much healthier.  There's a section of fans that have been vocally against the board for years now. Of course, it becomes more apparent when domestic results drop off too.

Especially since QotS play in League One rather than the Chanpionship and that is somewhat of a surprise if a League One side reach the last four
