'We deserve better" and other such soliloquies

That should have been his hattrick.  When a player scores his first/second goal of the day.

As if every passage of play would have remained the same had in fact an earlier chance been taken.

'Putting bodies on the line'. Overbliwn even by football's standards. That is what people in Ukraine and other forlorn places do. Footballers defend and block a ball.

I don't know, a solid blooter in the George Bernard's with a mitre mouldmaster on a cold January day atop a red ash pitch used to feel a lot like death in a warzone.

Getting it blootered into any body part was deathly tbh.

“It is what it is” really irritates me as a phrase.

Can't stand this one, talking without saying anything. So what is it?

See also "we are where we are". Very good, where the f**k are we, then?

“This is a special club” and “He just gets what this club is all about” is fine for…Dortmund or sonething, not Partick Thistle or The Spartans.

To be, or not to be: that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them? To die: to sleep;
No more; and by a sleep to say we end
The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks
That flesh is heir to, 'tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wish'd. To die, to sleep;
To sleep: perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub;
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must give us pause: there's the respect
That makes calamity of so long life;
For who would bear the whips and scorns of time,
The oppressor's wrong, the proud man's contumely,
The pangs of despised love, the law's delay,
The insolence of office and the spurns
That patient merit of the unworthy takes,
When he himself might his quietus make
With a bare bodkin? who would fardels bear,
To grunt and sweat under a weary life,
But that the dread of something after death,
The undiscover'd country from whose bourn
No traveller returns, puzzles the will
And makes us rather bear those ills we have
Than fly to others that we know not of?
Thus conscience does make cowards of us all;
And thus the native hue of resolution
Is sicklied o'er with the pale cast of thought,
And enterprises of great pith and moment
With this regard their currents turn awry,
And lose the name of action.--Soft you now!
The fair Ophelia! Nymph, in thy orisons
Be all my sins remember'd!

Shite English literature thread for this pish.....

Haven’t read the entire thread, so apologies if already mentioned… when folk go on about ‘the vast expanse’ of the playing surface at a ground such as a Wembley, Hampden or Camp Nou… when in reality, the pitch is actually the same size as Johnstone Burgh’s Keanie Park, or the one at Forest Green Rovers.

Dear Falkirk FC...

No, it doesn't. You're shite, admit it.

Guy on Twitter yesterday saying Falkirk “absolutely deserve” to be in an expanded 18-team Premiership. Conveniently ignoring the fact that they have been utter dross for the last however many years.

Sounds like the same tweet I was thinking of. It's a shame they're decent again otherwise the irony would have been even greater.

Absolutely this!!

You deserve to be exactly where you are due to previous league performances.

Falkirk definitely a case in point and substitute for every “big” team that gets papped out of the SPL into the Championship.

Also fits for the old firm bemoaning early European exits as they lose to some mob from_______ (insert any European Country here) whilst thinking they are relevant on the European stage. And don’t get me started on the Financial gulf……..

"Scottish fitbaw would die without the Old Firm"

Firstly the Old Firm died in 2012 when Rangers liquidated.

Secondly, I am willing to let them go.  Take their bile and nonsense with them.  Yes our game would lose a lot financially on TV deals etc, but then the league would be competititve with at least 4 teams able to pose a title challenge without the bigot brothers.

Also, we would get more common sense n our game, without their overbalanced voting and selfish attitudes.  We could end up with our 18 team top league and regionalising the rest.  This would breed good young players for the national side too.  And yes, the arse cheeks would probably try to get the cream of the crop from us, but the money would be coming from them INTO the league, boosting club revenues.

Bliss.
