Bully Wee Villa
Australia draw with Uzbekistan so those sides finish 1st and 2nd, respectively. Elsewhere, Syria beat India one-nil. India are out, and that also ends China's slim chances of progression. Syria through as one of the best third placed teams.
Bully Wee Villa
Palestine beat Hong Kong 3-0 to gain their first ever Asian Cup win and progress to the knockouts for the first time as one of the best third place teams. They were a few minutes from finishing second but the UAE's late goal in their two-one defeat by group winners Iran sees them hold onto the runners-up spot. Bully Wee Villa
Iraq beat Vietnam 3-2 in a match rendered largely pointless by the competition's insistence on using head to head record, meaning Iraq had already won the group and Vietnam knew they were out beforehand. More significantly, Japan, needing just a draw to secure second spot, defeat Indonesia 3-1. Indonesia must wait to find out whether they qualify as a best third-placed team, though their late consolidation goal may have helped (and made life more difficult for eindhovendee's beloved Kyrgyzstan). Indonesia qualify if either of the following group scenarios play out: 1. Bahrain lose by three goals, or 2-0, to Jordan, or lose 3-1 and pick up a load of cards. This is assuming that Malaysia don't beat South Korea by at least three in the other game. Or... 2. Kyrgyzstan draw, or win 1-0/2-1/3-2, against Oman. Bully Wee Villa
In the early games, South Korea took the lead on 94 minutes only to see Malaysia equalise on 105 minutes in a 3-3 draw. Malaysia still out, South Korea were already through but that third Malaysian goal sees them drop to second place. Bahrain top the group after beating Jordan, though Jordan still qualify as one of the best third-placed teams.
Bully Wee Villa
All over in the Group Stage. Saudi Arabia draw with Thailand. They finish first and second respectively but the Saudis may rather have lost as they now face South Korea while the Thais have Uzbekistan. Oman draw with Kyrgyzstan in a result that sends both sides out and sees Indonesia take the final best third-place spot.

Rael Rover
Palestine deservedly one up on Quatar. Not seen any Celtic flags amongst the Palestine fans so far!

SlipperyP
Thai oot. Did well to get out the groups as the 4th seed. also gave the Uzbecs a helleva fright, just a bridge too far. 45 places above us in the rankings.
houston_bud
Korea stumble into the next round after a 96th minute equaliser against Saudi, then winning on penalties. They meet Australia on Friday. None of the bigger sides have really hit form yet. I'd fancy Australia to win that tie, but who knows. Rael Rover
Never thought I'd one day be watching Iran against Syria at football and quite enjoy it. 1 : 1 with 20 mins to go. Football not great but both teams committed.
Rael Rover
Australia v South Korea just started. 7 of Australia"s starting line up do or ave played in Scotland, with another 2 on the bench. Oh on the bench for South Korea, as he usually is for Celtic.
JS_FFC
Surprise packages Jordan have made the semi final. However, so far in this tournament they’ve beaten a poor Malaysian side, drawn with South Korea, lost to Bahrain before one goal knockout wins over Iraq and Tajikistan. You’d fancy the Australia v South Korea winner to go on to the final. Similarly in the bottom half of the draw, Iran v Japan tomorrow feels like the real semi final. You’d back the winner of that to take care of either Uzbekistan or hosts Qatar.
Rael Rover
Lewis Miller comes on with 10 minutes to go, gives away a penalty in 94th minute where South Korea equalise, then gives away a free kick on edge of the box that Son scores from. Feel a bit sorry fir him. Australia also now down to 10 men after VAR review straight red
houston_bud
Korea have been incredibly lucky in this tournament so far. Japan play Iran today. I fancy a Korea v Japan final even though none of the bigger teams have looked particularly impressive. houston_bud
Japan out after conceding a penalty in the 96th minute. It's been a good tournament for upsets.
BFTD
Iran were good for their win against Japan; very much a tale of two halves. South Korea are always my AFC team, and nothing's changed. Some tremendous passing moves against Australia, but they do want to walk it in (©Maurice Moss). I haven't seen any of Jordan's games yet, so I'm looking forward to seeing the replay with the Republic; I'm expecting the winner to be playing Iran in the final. The AFC and CAF should go head to head more often if it means tournaments like this.
Craig fae the Vale
See Jordan have made the final by bearing South Korea. Don't think many will have predicted that one
