Left Back
4 minutes ago, Billy Jean King said: Surely Jack is worse in that his claim was he is a "luddite" and only did it to "free up space". At least the rest admitted they did it as part of routinely advised practice no matter how wrong that practice seems to have been. As I said it's descended into a pathetic party political point scoring farce. All of them are sitting there thinking they did no wrong and can justify their behaviour, by whatever excuse they want to come up with. All of them are wrong. It simply wouldn't wash in the corporate world. If you delete any work related comms, on whatever app, to prevent them being discoverable for legal purposes you're likely to be fired. That's why many workplaces ban comms using mechanisms that they can't retain without the explicit actions of the user as the organisation is responsible for the retention and production. Any reasonable person knows this and to think that governments can ignore such basic things is laughable.

Every single party was doing the exact same thing, there is no moral high ground, they have all been at it. This Whatsapp shite is a manufactured "scandal" by the BBC and others. When I was in the corporate world and had a work phone, we ensured that nothing remained on the work device on a daily basis............and I believe this is still the advice to MPs at Westminster "! 21 minutes ago, Left Back said: That'll be a no then. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-68165349 "At First Minister's Questions, Scottish Tory leader Douglas Ross said Mr Jack was "wrong" to delete his messages but said that was not equivalent to deletions by Scottish ministers. "He has apologised and he regrets it. Humza Yousaf can't step out the shadow of his disgraced predecessor and say the same," he told MSPs. He said there was a "massive difference" between the Scottish secretary and Ms Sturgeon, who said she deleted messages in line with government policy." Douglas Ross is a joke figure - suggesting that a Westminster Minister for Scotlands behaviour cant be equated with Scot Gov is laughable, if not surprising.
Leith Green
Back on Alister Jack, his personal attack on NS was utterly disgusting. Its one thing to talk to your colleagues and call her a wee boot or whatever, but what he said today was dreadful and frankly I hope she catches him outside and gives him a boot in the stanes.

And if they'd kept all their messages, no doubt there would be 'Government by Whatsapp!' headlines across the Unionist press, BBC included. Alister [sic] Jack is usually dismissed as a posh Tory thicko, but he's a nasty posh Tory thicko.

O'Kelly Isley III
Can someone enlighten me ? Is the COVID Inquiry seeking to examine how a wealthy first-world nation was so demonstrably unprepared to deal with a global pandemic, leading to the subsequent deaths of hundreds of thousands of its citizens amidst eye-watering levels of multi-Governmental ineptitude and financial corruption, or is it a contemporary production of Salem's Lot for the WhatsApp age ?

Severin Carrell, their Scottish stringer, has championed, successively, the likes of Jim Murphy, Ruth Davison etc, but never Nicola. It's disappointing for those who believed Nicola was different from the usual self serving politicians. Turns out she wasn't, she was just much better at hiding it. I don't trust a single one of the feckers regardless of the ribbon. Edited February 1 by Trogdor

For example, they praised her Brexit stance but criticised her public services record. Edited February 1 by Freedom Farter
