This sort of thing falls into that weird kind of inverse snobbery for me. I have the class argument frequently with a mate who seems convinced that any show of intelligence/vague eloquence/use of big words means someone can't be working class. He clearly has a thing that to be working class you have to be proud that you're a bit thick and not using poncey language etc. The same sort of thing i'd say applies to your example. Loads of folk in this country would be like "who does he think he is with his herb garden". TL;DR I think perception of class in this country (as fucked up a concept as it is) is mostly coloured by bitterness and jealousy

Barry Ferguson's Hat
There are three types of people: - Those who think nothing of wearing GANT polos around the house. - Those who keep their GANT polos for special occasions. - Those whose personal ineptitude has prevented them from owning a GANT polo.
Glen Sannox
Harvey Nics as they call it. Archerfield, Cameron House, St Andrews Bay. Aspiring middle class, trash cash venues. Rugby, rental properties and holidays in Dubai. Voting for Alex Cole-Hamilton. Working in Edinburgh’s financial sector. Charity auctions at the Sheraton, Prestonfield House etc. Miller and Carter (posh Wetherspoons) Golf.
Granny Danger
If P&B had been around a few years ago people would be posting ‘drinking wine’. Funny how things change.

I did the table service for a charity auction at Prestonfield House one time, and while clearing glasses at the end of the night there was a young lady in tears with a signed, framed rugby shirt crying about how she couldn't afford to go on holiday that year now. Ha ha ha. Still, was all for charity. They probably raised almost as much as they spent on hats and wine.
tamthebam
Voting for Cole-Hamilton isn't the sign of being middle class. It's the sign of being a chunt.
