Zetterlund
Has anyone else noticed that people have stopped using question marks. Why do they do this. It's really annoying to read, isn't it.

My wife just spent 11 days in Forth Royal and ended up discharging herself because the level of care was shocking. She was left unable to move in a soiled bed for 6 hours. Cardboard bowls of vomit were left beside her all day. She developed bed sores. Some nurses were great but a lot most definitely weren't - lazy bitches who did as little as possible. One of the agency nurses spent most of the night shift asleep on one of the empty beds. Nurses would change her medication, against the Dr's instructions. Drips were left empty and when the alarm sounded, they'd switch off the alarm and leave the bag untouched. She waited all day for one medication and never got it, next day when the Surgeon was doing his rounds it was on her notes that she'd refused it. She was supposed to be on IV morphine on demand but some days was left for 9-10 hours with nothing, howling in pain and being ignored. So, 3 days ago she discharged herself and I took her home where at least she's in a comfy bed and not forced to lie in her own filth. Today, I phoned her GP and asked for a home visit and basically got "What do you expect me to do? I'm not coming out" My pal is a nurse and he was telling me the other day that the NHS has a big pot of cash for compensating folk who have been subject to this sort of care, happens a lot given how understaffed hospitals are. He was saying the payouts can be quite healthy if you have evidence. If you've taken any photos of the bed sores I would look to make an official complaint.

This is thoroughly depressing and an indication of where healthcare is going in this country.

A one way system was recently added at Kelvinbridge retail park - do the auld duffers in their Honda Jazz or the fishfaced wifies in their X5's bother? Do they fk - driving right at you and flashing lights.

It's not all doom and gloom. We are in the Edinburgh area and can usually get either a phone or face to face GP appointment within a few days. I had a GP surgery based physio appointment and a scan (for 2 different reasons) within 3 weeks of asking*. A close relative has another specialism phone appointment later this morning having been referred for one less than 2 weeks ago. Obviously our experience isn't mirrored everywhere, but neither are the less good experiences fully representative of the work across the country. An area where a lot of improvement work is needed is NHS dentistry. Right...have a fund available to pay compensation to folk who wouldn't need the compensation if the fund had been spent in the right place in the first place.

jimbaxters
Know a guy who sued the NHS because his mum fell out the bed, due to a nurse not having put the side part up. His mum was shaken but ok. At that time, I couldn't believe anyone would contemplate doing such a thing to the NHS. Having read newbornbairn's story however.... The place is absolutely filthy. The room my Mum was in had faeces on the floor for one thing. Also a nurse and a doctor tried to send her home when she was not fit to. There was plenty of nurses on the ward though but a lot of the time they stood about chatting.
scottsdad
Taking stuff to the dump - today I needed to register online, book a slot, and then explain to the guy at the gate what I had with me. A year ago you'd just rock up and do it all yourself.

Then for a short while you could rock up unannounced. Last time I got into a spat with an officious p***k at the Craigmillar cowp because he wanted me to have booked just to dump some bottles in the bottle bank. Apparently ne'er do wells in Danderhall (which is in Midlothian) were committing the heinous act of taking rubbish to the Edinburgh Council facility. This was just after the local cooncil election too...
