P&b Running Club

I'm probably being a bit of a wimp, it's not 'killing me'. The side of my left foot is sore, not sure if it's my step or whatever. I've run approx 10km before and I do occasionally get sore feet after runs, although only usually if I haven't been training. My ankle is sore now, I assume from compensating. I'll take a couple of days off and see if it gets better.

Look out for my obituary in the Inverness Courier lads.

Sounds like you are compensating. I would definitely get an analysis done on a treadmill at a specialist running shop anyway so you can get right shoes for running. No expert but a massive difference between neutral/structure trainers etc.

I found this link which would suggest underpronation but am no expert - the serious runners on here would know more. Give it afew more runs maybe and see if you adapt? Good luck

Meadows half marathon for me next week. Nowhere near enough training for a PB (under 1:32) but think I should be able to go below 1:40.

I run round the Meadows too often as it is without going round however-many-times for that! I salute your resolve.

Speaking of which, I went round it tonight too. A doddle with work's running club and then intervals afterward. I can't help thinking that feeling good at the end means I'm doing something wrong - it was a first, anyway.

ICTChris - the foot pain could be down to overuse if you stepped up to that distance fairly quickly; rest's the best thing for it. If it develops into a recurring thing it's probably worth getting your gait looked at as marty_j has said. I tend to go to Run 4 It on Lothian Road.

I did a reasonably-quick 5K along the Union Canal last night and stepped on an incredibly sharp stone. The sole of my foot is fucking agony!

7 times round with a loop up to George Square each lap to put a little hill in it. Should be ok for something different but not looking forward to being lapped by whoever is winning it!

I have three options for Saturday - either Jack Crawford Springburn Cup 10k, Eglinton Parkrun or Tollcross Parkrun.

I am intrigued by the JC 10K and have heard it is a flat course, but can have congestion issues due to the narrowness of the canal towpath. Has anyone run this before? If so, is it a good one?

Competing against the Glasgow Nike Running club between now and the end of March.

Feel like a traitor seen as I'm from Glasgow.....sad days but I'll do my best none the less.

Boo! Lol - I am in the Glasgow team. Not done a run since Tuesday yet though so my contribution has been nada to date. That will change tonight though! We have got a few guys/gals who do a hell of a lot of miles, so pretty confident we will do well.

It'll be a good contest. I'm aiming to do 30km a week but I'm sure others will do a lot more

never knew this one had congestion issues but seems legit if its on the canal. given im generally a middle of the pack/field sort of guy congestion can be a right pain. looking forward to it but weather looks bad

Yeah in light of the weather I am probably just going to do a Parkrun. Can't be bothered putting in the mega effort a fast 10k requires just for the weather to make a good time impossible.

Supposedly the canal path is pretty thin in places and make overtaking difficult.

Totally lost my way since doing my ankle in and then winter virus that wouldn't shift. Did 4.5k last Saturday.

Have joined ren leisure and will try some classes as my stomachs fucked from three kids and being a fatty so want tone and try some

Classes for bit variety.

Hopefully get back out in spring.

First time at Eglinton parkrun today. Got round in about 18'50" which I am relatively pleased with given the inclement weather and the fact that it was my first ever trail run.

Found the course pretty tough, some fairly steep inclines (although nothing like Tollcross) and the bridges/cobbled bits are like an ice rink almost causing me to fall twice lol.

Enjoyed it though - will definitely go back in better weather.

I've got a 5k on Sunday with work-mates. I've only ever done 10k's before in mid-to-high teen temperatures but the forecast for Sunday is 6 and light showers. Normally I just run in shorts and t-shirt (or a t under a sponsor vest) but what would folk recommend for this? I've got a t-shirt for work that I have to wear but trying to weigh up what else to throw on. I don't want to wear extra layers and end up regretting it as I'd like to get a reasonable time.

You are certifiable going out in that!!!

Weather wasn't that bad tbh - I even did a 3.75km cool down run around Bishy after getting off the train. It wasn't pleasant but I think last Sunday has prepared me for a lot worse lol.

I tend to wear either a running T-shirt and a light running jacket or a long sleeved running tshirt with a short sleeved one on top for running any distance at this time of year tbh. Edited by BishyTON

Inverness Parkrun was a mud bath today. Wanted a time initially but it'dve taken too much effort with the half tomorrow. Got round in 22.37 I think, and just happy to be home and cleaned up! Newish shoes caked in the brown stuff though...ugh.

Jack Crawford 10k - it was their alternate route due to flooding but congestion was still a factor . wind was murder on the second half. A disapointing time was recorded. Heh.

Such as shame as its a good set up with the leisure centre and decent facilities so close to the start / finish lines
