They deserved the win. Many lols to be had this weekend! South Sydney beat Canterbury Bulldogs in the NRL Grand Final. Liked the chip from Inglis into the left corner that was meant for Johnston but great follow up by Auvaa to take advantage of the bounce to make it 18-6 with 8 mins to go. Back on top of the table again. Two big games coming up next, Ulster away then the european tie at Scotstoun against Bath who are on fire at the moment. Glasgow have been getting the results without getting out of 3rd gear in games. Back on top of the table again. Pretty badly is an understatement, it was terrible start from Glasgow. Lucky it was only v Treviso, give Ulster or Bath at 10-0 start we're gubbed. Why is this the case? They're reducing Super League from 14 to 12, and doing so via 0-up-2-down. They're then introducing a format not dissimilar to the (horrific) 12-12 > 8-8-8 which Doncaster & Co wanted for SPL/SFL reconstruction: * clubs in both Super League + Championship play twice + "Magic Weekend"/"Summer Bash" (23 games) * split into Top 8, Middle 8 & Bottom 8 and play once (7 games = total 30 games) * positions 1-4 in the Top 8 then play the Semi-Finals & Grand Final * positions 1-3 in the Middle 8 rejoin the Super League for the following season, with 4th & 5th having a playoff * positions 1-4 in the Bottom 8 play their own Semi-Finals & Final for a Shield, with 7th & 8th relegated to L1 [in Top 8 and Bottom 8 clubs carry-over all points from Super League or Championship... in Middle 8 clubs start from scratch] Basically it allows a form of promotion/relegation into the top-tier, and increases the number of matches (and thus £££) from 27/26 to 30. I say white top white shorts and blue socks but seeing as those days are gone its not bad. Thing is though when you chop and change colours it then becomes impossible to distinguish between game strips and training gear. The three kits Macron have produced look good though, especially compared to the Canterbury efforts. Did anyone watch the Gold Coast 7s today? Scotland were 21-7 up on Portugal with 3 seconds to play and ended up drawing 21-21.
