  1. I caught this as well. Agree that it was very interesting. Didn’t quite realise that seemingly the majority of the guys who signed up did so very willingly and rushed out to do so. The kids lying about their age to get in, and the army being complicit in this, is tragic in hindsight. It seems like so many thought it was a bit of an adventure with their mates. I found myself empathising with a lot of them, especially when one guy said it seemed exciting compared to sitting in an office all day. I think at first it would have been decent when you were with your mates and doing the drills and it was all being built up to a bit of a jolly. Some pretty gruesome stuff was shown that soon made it clear how awful it all was. The matter of fact way the guys talked about charging the lines and and killing folk I think showed that it wasn’t something they really wanted to remember. It seemed like they saw it as a necessity and were following orders, and not something they particularly wanted to do. It also resonated with me at the end how they all said that war was awful and hoped that it would never happen again, and how they didn’t see themselves as heroes. I think they’d be disgusted to see how things are ‘remembered’ these days, because their efforts were for nought. They were wasted and their memories tarnished. What they did has been totally disrespected by the wankers who have hijacked the poppy stuff. Folk who have big gaudy displays, football teams with poppies on their tops, poppies on cars, folk with bullshit displays in their gardens, scum who get poppy tattoos, folk who demand others wear one, the hero worship of the armed forces, societal pressure around it all, poppies on jets, poppy merchandise, poppy pizzas, poppy Facebook pictures and frames, poppies on buses, boring barely legible Facebook statuses about it, poppy pebbles, poppy world records etc etc and all the other bullshit; all of it is a massive show of disrespect to the people who did fight in WW1. Thye fought so others wouldn’t have to go to war again. They said they weren’t heroes. They didn’t want to remembered as such; they wanted to be remembered for their efforts in stopping the horrors of war, the waste of human life, the toll it takes on everyone. They failed unfortunately and the whole ‘remembrance’ day and poppy bullshit is a celebration of their failure.

  6. sometimes I think folks are watching a different game than I am. imo Irving has been our best player this season (possibly McGhee aside). he's creative beats a man and at least gets shots away. I've been impressed by buaben and Robson in the past few games but over the season Irving and McGhee first names on team sheet for me

  7. Horrific article once again from Keith. There is a poor attempt to mask it as some sort of link to the tv deal when in actual fact it's just a reason to have a go at Livi. We would not have seen this article if Celtic had won 1-0. Also note that throughout he references 'Livingston away' as opposed to 'Livingston vs Celtic'. The message is clear, there is a protagonist in this and a supporting act. A weegie view of Scottish football in a nutshell.

  8. I’d fucking love to never see Fasan, Mitchell, Dallison, Haber, Lewis or McKee ever play for us again. Utter shite the lot of them. Mental shout about Petravicius btw. He’s a completely different player since Ray came in.

  12. A woman was in a coma. She had been in it for months. Nurses were in her room giving her a bed bath. One of them was washing her private area and noticed that there was a slight response on the monitor whenever she touched her there. They tried it again and sure enough, there was definite movement. They went to her husband and explained what happened, telling him, 'As crazy as this sounds, maybe a little 'Oral sex' will do the trick and bring her out of the coma.' The husband was sceptical, but they assured him that they would close the curtains for privacy. The husband finally agreed and went into his wife's room. After a few minutes the woman's monitor flat-lined, no pulse, no heart rate. The nurses run back into the room. "What happened!?" they cried. The husband said, 'I'm not sure, I think she choked.'

  16. He's generally not very complimentary about anyone in the squad but his biggest bugbear is that we let Shepherd go whilst keeping O'Hara, whom he thinks is particularly shite. He reckons that Shepherd will prove everyone wrong and will be back to haunt us some day! So much so that many on here reckon he's either Sheps himself or a friend or family member.

  23. Think that’s a lot of pish. The only reason Fasan kept a clean sheet on Saturday was because the defence playing so well and awful finishing from Andy Ryan. He was pish again yesterday. He can’t deal with cross balls, kicking is ridiculous and refusal to come off his line is infuriating. Agree with Mitchell btw. I was one that hyped him up way too much when he was out injured but he has showed that he is not up to it. I’d still probably have him over Fasan but clearly neither are good enough.

  28. Well I can't speak for ALL of the quarter of a million or so adult age males in Scotland who were brought up by a female single parent but I think having other relatives, friends, teachers, role models in the public eye, every piece of fiction I ever watched or read, neighbours, politicians, religious figures, etc. who, about half of whom (give or take) had baws means that I managed to grow up with all the masculine traits I needed or desired. Remarkably not having a father in my life growing up didn't stop me from growing a beard or being able to execute a two footed challenge on a nippy winger. Precisely what "masculine" traits did I miss out on because my da' done a runner when I was still wearing nappies? But, then again, I also think the very idea of "masculinity" is an obsolete term for anything other sexual fetishes.

  30. If we can stay up this season then bin alot of the trash whose contracts will be up then i think next season could finally be a decent one with McIntyre recruiting. Moussa may well be the worst football player I've seen considering the amount of times he has played. Usually terrible players you only see in a few games but this man has been continually laughable for over a year now. Thank you.

  31. It would take quite a lot for me to become a regular. As it is, I have other priorities and hobbies at the weekends that take up my time. Saints games are unfortunately usually near the bottom of the pile. Exceptions are made for certain away games where you are pretty much guaranteed a fine day out regardless of the match result. My main issues with home games are the lack of atmosphere and the price of a ticket. I just don’t think the cost of a home game is worth the experience. If I remember correctly, Hibs away cost the same as a home game - but with that you get a game played in front of at least 16,000, good away atmosphere and day out in the capital. Sure it will cost more money in all but it’s worth it. Pricing and atmosphere go hand in hand though really don’t they, folk like me don’t want to pay the asking price but if we all did there’d be 4000 fans at home games not 2000. I think the club definitely have a lot to answer for when it comes to home crowds. They missed a glorious opportunity to bolster our fan base after the cup win and during that European campaign. When the club banned the FCU and then came calling back, tail between the legs and got shunned by the group, it didn’t look good for the club and it alienated a next generation of young Saints fans. Okay, they behaved unacceptably at times - but they were mischievous teens and it should have been dealt with differently. It’s difficult to see if those guys will return. In a country where kids are choosing the Old Firm/EPL side over their local teams - that was a criminal move by the club. Other than the family deal (which is a great deal) there doesn’t seem to be much initiatives to get people to attend - mainly teenagers to early twenties. I said before that this game should be marketed as a “Blue And White Home Day” or something - and why not? We did it away at Dunfermline and I’m sure we did a home game like that vs the Pars as well. It’s the perfect opportunity with a two week break. I think had Saints been beaten by Accies I probably wouldn’t be heading to the Killie game because it would feel deflating after our fine run. Now we’ve beaten them, pumped them if you may, and things are looking good. I’m looking forward to this game, I’m not going to expect a rousing atmosphere but I can only hope others like me have a look at the fixture and decide to go. I’ll be doing my bit on social media to try and gather interest for the game and if my words can get just one extra person through the gates at least I’ll have made a difference.

  33. Harrison has been very good in the last two games and the 3 at the back seems to suit him. I would keep him as back up if not a starter. Irving is a talented laddie who I think will flourish with Bauben beside him; I would definitely keep him for the season if possible. Petra's one of those who is very unpredictable, can be pish and good in the same move! Move him on if we can get better but I think his pace and effort are certainly plus points that can be used when required.

  36. Just let me get this straight. The only reason you went up is because you’re a team of hatchetmen and cloggers, and now the only reason you have one of the best defences in the league is the fact you’ve got a new Astro pitch (which the aforementioned hatchetmen and cloggers hadn’t played on prior to this season)? I get that Keith is seething that both cheeks have now failed to leave with three points - but that isn’t because the pitch is Astro.

  40. On the one hand this is my views on nationalism. But on the other I am hugely grateful that my tiny space and small time in this pale blue dot has been made one of comfort and leisure that owes a huge debt of gratitude to men and women I have never met. The men who went over the top and Passchendaele and Arras, of the boats at Gallipoli and into the seas to hunt uboats. To the women who worked in factories and farms, the huge number of non citizens of the empire who served for a wide variety of reasons to air our fight against the Kaiser and the Nazis. I know it also fits into a bigger and longer struggle for rights from the Levellers, the Chartists, the Suffragettes and into a more modern era and newer struggles. Smug sneerings and and pompous condemnations are fun and make people feel like they have something of value to offer the world. Those who contributed to ensuring Europe could largely become a family of free democracies seem to have left slightly more of a worth while legacy than the hipsters and attention seekers on here. But I am sure they will dispute this. Narcissists are unlikely to like being upstaged but those who fought for our freedom.
