  1. The RoI will have done their own version of Opertion Yellowhammer and I'd guess they'd be anxious to do a deal rather than face the alternative of a No-Deal outcome and a Johnson government containing the likes of Priti "let's starve the Irish" Patel. I'd also suggest that the EU will go for any deal that's acceptable to the RoI, especially if the implementation date could be extended a couple of years from the original schedule (Dec 20)), Johnson could shaft the DUP, go for an election and gamble that the ERG would take the best deal likely to be on the table - I still wouldn't put any money on it.
  2. Isn't that the basic plot of every John Le Carre novel?
  3. Bit disappointed this was reported in The Grauniad but with a bit of luck it'll make it to the Mail for major "gammon" outrage...
  4. Thank fuck - I was beginning to think we'd all given up!
  5. Two weeks for us to wallow in self pity / prepare for a six pointer against one of the teams looking to be our rivals for the relegation / play off spots. It's pretty clear where our problems lie and it's up to JG to find a solution that works or else..... As is often the case in these situations Cody Cooke is looking better every week!
  6. Like I said earlier, would an average toff walk across the afghan mountains alone in winter? Probably not. c**t or not, he is different from the rest of them. 9 years of supporting every austerity measure the Tory/Lib Dem (2010-2015) and Tory (2015-present) governments proposed make me think otherwise.
  7. Given events in that country, at the time and subsequently, it's not something I'd want on my CV even he now agrees the invasion was a mistake. His choice to criticize BJ on his schooldays shows it's all a big game to him - I'd say he's pretty much an "average toff".
  8. I see BJs ex-rival for the job Rory Stewart has resigned from the Tory party in a speech where he read out BJs school report from 1982, Stewart is another old-Etonian whose main qualification for the job seemed to be his privileged background - I won't miss him, although I see he intends to run for Mayor of London as an Independent. “Boris really has adopted a disgracefully cavalier attitude to his classical studies,” the letter begins. Ex-Public Schoolboy bantz I guess - out of all his high-jinks & misdemeanours it doesn't even make my list of grievances against Johnson!
  9. I've heard he's planning to blame it all on you!
  10. Pithy question from Anna Soubry (for a change) congratulating the PM on gaining a deal with the ERG & the DUP (KERCHING). Like DD says above BJ just ignored Blacford's question merely to repeat with May's standard non-answer. One major drawback with these sessions is giving every other question to backbench Tory MPs to put soft non-questions to the PM - today's examples all include universal congratulations to the PM for his temperate language - although I see he's already starting to slip!
  11. From the Mailonline article. If that's true just set a sustainable budget and then there's only the money you lose this season to worry about - or am I missing something?
  12. The Tories are so far down the "Boris vs The Establishment" road that I doubt anything will make them reconsider prior to the GE, their "respect the SC but disagree with them" response was the only option open to them - three cheers for Boris the man of the people.
  13. Bonking Boris has gotten himself involved in a scandal over £126,000 of public money paid to an American businesswoman whilst Mayor of London. OK it's all a bit nudge, nudge, wink, wink, - but what made me chuckle was her description of herself as a "legitimate businesswoman".
  14. Hopefully it's like a game of Kerplunk and this is one straw less supporting the monarchy.
  15. Did we somehow borrow Lord Pannick from Discworld?
  16. Apparently on This Morning this morning. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/sep/17/ruth-davidson-i-was-hopelessly-conflicted-over-brexit Like many others I think she's playing the long game and may at some point be dragged back to active politics if she can be persuaded it's in the nation's interests.
  17. The Brexit Party - for the little people!
  18. Totally lacking in self awareness as well. Q. Why do you want to be PM - A. Because I'd be rather good at it.
  19. See that TMs chief negotiator Olly Robbins is off to the City on a megabucks deal once after a sabbatical - nice to see somebody doing well out of this mess.
  20. Is that a pen or a Lambert and Butler king size Laura is holding ? Has Boris always looked like King Louie?
  21. St. Mirren Colts - Best team in Renfrewshire. Good start for Agent Bairdy.
  22. You brought the argument across from BAWA! Over the two sites I have said numerous times that "signings stalled until we appointed a new manager who changed our signing policy" or similar - I maintain my opinion that recent signings (which I'm reasonably happy with) were not part of "the masterplan". If I hadn't explained myself how was Coventry Saint able to reply to, and even agree with, me (see below)? Let's go round again... *************** @Coventry Saint It's obviously got lost in the mists of time but originally I specified this summer and that's the period subsequent posts have focused on that period and I still think it failed on the terms specified by GLS in the BBC article, which you agree with -"Yes, you're right: if you're looking at a tiny portion of our long term plans." I've mentioned elsewhere it worked well in the January window when OK was left to concentrate on playing matters. Regarding future developments JG is a different kettle of fish to OK and again I said previously that I see GMs role being diminished (more of a chief scout) and would question whether it will be VFM as long as JG stays.
